Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
A very weird collection of alien creatures go busily about the house one night with a friend, demonstrating a series of simple opposites—front, rear;far, near;bald, hairy;silly, scary¾for example. When their space ship leaves, two young aliens are left to keep their young friend happy company in bed. The boldly colored drawings depict the two-line captions like "Aliens work, Aliens play" with slapstick humor, as lots of bug-eyed creatures have a ball. The main attractions are the sturdily constructed, heavy cardboard pages containing large tabs which, when manipulated, uncover some amusing surprises. 2000, Hyperion Books for Children, $9.99. Ages 3 to 6. Reviewer:Ken Marantz and Sylvia Marantz
