Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Amie Rose Rotruck
Most children would be surprised to find an alien in their fortune cookie. Richard Bickerstaff, however, has met this particular alien before in other food items. This time, Aric the alien needs Richard's help to stop aliens from the planet Dwilb from turning Earth into a toxic-waste theme park. Dwilb aliens can hypnotize humans by saying everything twice, so keeping them at bay is quite a job for Richard and Aric. Worst of all, Richard's mom's new boyfriend tends to say things twice! This intergalactic duo get in and out of humorous scrapes in their quest to save the world. Science fiction for young readers is a difficult challenge, but Spinner manages it easily. Bjorkman's black-and-white illustrations accent the story beautifully. Even though it is the third in a series, it stands alone very easily, and readers will be looking for the first two books after reading this one. From the "Stepping Stones Books" series.

If you like to read about aliens, this is the right book for you. In the book there is a little boy name Richard, and his mom just got a new boyfriend. Richard doesn't really like him. One night Richard's old friend Aric, a little alien came by and told him that another bad Alien was coming to earth to take over. On the top of Richard's head he thought it was his mom's new boyfriend. One day Richard was just about to get on the bus and he saw some kids inhailing the exhaust from the back of the bus, but know one else saw them. At the end of the day Richard walked home from school and there was a big oil spill and his mom's boyfriend was swimming in it. When he got home he told his what he had saw, and she thought he was lying so she told him to take a nap.
