Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Martha Cunningham
This young child's book about cats and cat care should ideally be read with an adult. It does provide a good introduction to the needs, habits, and types of domestic cats. The photographs are endearing and illustrate well the points made by the text. While the book is a good introduction to some technical terminology; the majority of the information deals with care and habits of the average cat. No argument is made for or against allowing cats outdoors, declawing, or treating fleas. Photographs, notably, are all of Caucasian families except for one Oriental infant and one black little girl. One veterinarian wears glasses; no one has a visible disability. There is no index so, without teacher help, a child might be discouraged if seeking particular information. The book is part of the series "All Aboard Books."
