First to the top explorer, and adventurer, Sir Edmund Hillary, spent his life climbing the tallest mountains in the world. He loved to explore and that passion would lead to great accomplishments and bring him fame and fortune.

Sir Edmund Hillary and his climbing partner, Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, reached the top of Mount Everest in Nepal. It is the tallest mountain in the world, and they were the first to reach its peak. Their story is a tale of courage, skill, and determination and an inspiration to anyone who dreams of making it to the top.

After his adventures, Edmund established the Himalayan Trust to donate money to the impoverished country of Nepal to build schools and hospitals.

About the Author

Lew Freedman is the author of more than 90 books including dozens of biographies for adult and school aged readers. He also enjoyed a long career as a journalist and newspaper editor for the Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer and the Anchorage Daily News. The author currently resides in Columbus, Indiana.

Amber Calderon (Illustrator) is a young artist pursuing a Studio Art degree from DePauw University. Amber has found a deep fondness for digital art and drawing. Much of her interest in making art is rooted in replicating, understanding, and manipulating the world around her.

Jennifer Mujezinovic is a professional portrait artist and painted the cover portrait for this All About series title.
