A quartet of interactive board books in the All Change! series by Angela Lambert go from simple concepts such as Food and Animals, to more complex ideas such as Party and Jobs. All books come with a corrugated doll attached by a red string that eases in and out of a transparent pocket ("I am sweet and crumbly./ Do you like icing?/ Mmmmn!/ I'm a Cake!"). This interactive element works more successfully in the latter two titles. Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
Animals have different characteristics, and human emotions can often be associated with them. In this board book a red ribbon attaches to a cardboard figure that could be a boy or a girl. The cutout, a sort of paper doll, slips into a vinyl pocket in each spread. The text uses the animal to accompany the emotion. "When I feel brave, I want to be a Tiger. Roar! Roar!" Kids will have fun making the animal sounds as they slip the cardboard figure into its slot, while they also pretend to be brave, noisy, loving and more. Additionally, they will be learning the names of the animals and a little fact about each. The ribbon seems to be securely attached, and the front cover pocket is a good place to keep the cutout safe. This is part of the "All Change!" series. 2005, Child's Play, Ages 3 to 6.
