I was ecstatic to find this truly wonderful series of books FINALLY available for my Nook. My first Nook was purchased 15 months ago and I have been checking for availability at least once a week ever since. These books are charming , well written and truly a pleasure to discover, for animal lovers and book lovers alike. They still make me laugh and cry and wonder, even after several readings. Had a bad day? Need to read something that will make yout world better? Try these books!

I read these books outloud to my son when he was young and am so looking forward to reading them again. There are laugh out loud moments in which you will empathize with this young vet starting out in his career and will rejoice with him as he marries and grows his family. These are NOT your normal tear jerker dog stories. This are upbeat tales and tails at there very best. Don't miss the James Herriott books.

These books are classics. The stories about a small town large animal vet are warm, humorous, and short. These books are ideal for reading on planes, in doctor's offices, etc. They provide wonderful, laugh out loud entertainment that make time fly by. I love the easy "start, stop and restart" aspect of the books format. I never travel without James Herriot.

I can remember reading these books back in the 70's and enjoying them so much! Once I was reading in the bathtub and started laughing so hard...my husband came running in to check on me.
I never read the last two books and will buy and read those as soon as I finish the first three again.

Anyone who loves animals - be they great or small- will be hard pressed to find a better series of books. You become one, with not only Herriot as the compassionate veterinarian, but his numerous and varied patients and their owners as well. Matter-of-fact veterinary diagnosis and procedures are frank yet weighted by a tender, caring heart. You find yourself cheering for each and every animal – celebrating the healings; grieving the losses. Pastoral settings are beautifully described exposing the soul of a writer able to share his gift of finding peace in the tasks at hand, because it is what he is called to do. The fells, the brooks, the mountains, the fields, the valleys – each in their own season – refresh and confirm there is no place better to be than where your heart leads. It’s easy to identify with Herriot’s frustrations as ancient customs stand at odds with modern veterinary practices; and his humbled, tongue-in-cheek humor when wizened custom trumps contemporary advances. In a way, Herriot becomes the man we’d all wish to be. Humble, finding humor and purpose in what we ever we’re called to do. It is to Herriot’s favor, his patients, as well as his readers, that healing was the greater part of that purpose.

If you love animals and a simpler time in the world, this is a great look back 70 years to the period before WWII in northern England.

James Herriots books have always been some of my favorites. It is great now to have this collection of three of my favorite books - All Creatures Great and Small, All Things Bright and Beautiful, and, All Things Wise and Wonderful in electronic form on my Color Nook so that I can read them at leisure anytime I want. This is a must buy for my "Have to have" collection!

I have loved these books since I was a teenager, and was very excited to see this bundle! You don't have to be a wannabe-vet to enjoy the stories, which often makes me laugh out loud.

This is a fantastic book, one that will hold your attention from the start, and give you a lot of laughs as well as some truly heart-touching moments. Based on the true life of an English veterinarian from his first day on the job, just out of school, in the 1930's, through the WWII period, into modern times, this one will hold your interest for sure. Highly recommend it for all audiences.

I first read the Herriot books in the mid 70's. My parents would hear me laughing and wanted to know why. By the time I finished the 3rd book, they were reading the 1st and 2nd ones, and laughing along. These are wonderful stories, some funny, some sad, that you can be comfortable reading with your kids. They might be difficult for very young kids to enjoy, but if you are looking to bond with your preteen, these books are a good place to start. Each chapter is a new adventure.
