Maybe it was his time in prison, or maybe it was simply his signing with Suge Knight's Death Row label. Whatever the case, 2Pac re-emerged hardened and hungry with All Eyez on Me, the first double-disc album of original material in hip-hop history. With all the controversy surrounding him, 2Pac seemingly wanted to throw down a monumental epic whose sheer scope would make it an achievement of itself. But more than that, it's also an unabashed embrace of the gangsta lifestyle, backing off the sober self-recognition of Me Against the World. Sure, there are a few reflective numbers and dead-homiez tributes, but they're much more romanticized this time around. All Eyez on Me is 2Pac the thug icon in all his brazen excess, throwing off all self-control and letting it all hang out -- even if some of it would have been better kept to himself. In that sense, it's an accurate depiction of what made him such a volatile and compelling personality, despite some undeniable filler. On the plus side, this is easily the best production he's ever had on record, handled mostly by Johnny J notably on the smash "How Do U Want It" and Dat Nigga Daz; Dr. Dre also contributes another surefire single in "California Love" which, unfortunately, is present only as a remix, not the original hit version. Both hits are on the front-loaded first disc, which would be a gangsta classic in itself; other highlights include the anthemic Snoop Dogg duet "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted," "All About U" with the required Nate Dogg-sung hook, and "I Ain't Mad at Cha," a tribute to old friends who've gotten off the streets. Despite some good moments, the second disc is slowed by filler and countless guest appearances, plus a few too many thug-lovin' divas crooning their loyalty. Erratic though it may be, All Eyez on Me is nonetheless carried off with the assurance of a legend in his own time, and it stands as 2Pac's magnum opus.

GREATEST RAP ALBUM OF ALL TIME

This album shows how created and gifted 2pac was before he was assassinated. When u listening to tha 2 discs, u can tell this man put a lot of effort in this album. This will always be a West Coast Hip Hop classic as a Death Row album following 2 The Chronic and Doggystyle.

    an atypical pac lover

i listened to each track from beginning to end. after nuturing my love of tupac through his greatest hits and then books, i started acquiring each cd. i believe this to be his best. and like many have said, i believe him to be the best rapper ever based on his lyrics, their depth and his melodious voice. just so you know... i am a 40 year college educated mother of a college freshman! and despite what you may think, i introduced him to pac! LOL

    2nd disc is my favorite

Some of the people said that they found the second disc to be worse than the first...I am more of a "hardcore" rap lover (Jedi Mind Tricks, Outerspace, stuff like that) and I definitely think the 2nd disc is the kind of rap I'd roll with my dual subs blasting... The rap is hard and meaningful, and this set is definitely worth picking up.

Tupac's #1 Album - All Eyez on Me

'All Eyez on Me' is considered as Tupac Shakur's best piece of work by many listeners, which is saying a lot since Tupac was (and still is) the greatest rapper and one of the greatest musical artists of all time. Every song in this album is great to listen to, really. I just wish they would have put the ORIGINAL version of 'California Love,' instead of putting in a remix version of the song.

    Half Good Lp

2pac was one of the best rappers hip-hop has ever seen. He was good rapper cuz he put feeling into his songs, and he "said" something instead of babbling on about nothing. ALL EYEZ ON ME is a good lp. NOT GREAT, but GOOD. Disc 1 is way better than Disc 2. Disc 1 has all the best songs, while Disc 2 is somewhat of a showcase of his less-than-mediocre OUTLAWS. Disc 2 is filled with collaborations, and they bore. I like 2pac and i think his work was one of a kind, but ALL EYEZ ON ME is not up to par. ALL EYEZ ON ME is only good half as good, because Disc 1 has all the good songs, while Disc 2 is just trash.

All eyes on this CD. All eyes on me is the greatest rap album of all time. Even if ur not a big Pac fan this cd would convert u 2 the 2pac saga. No rapper has ever come close 2 touchin Pac and his style. If there's any one cd u should ever get it's this one. Peace out Peoples

    West Siiiiide!!

In case you've been under a rock the last ten years or so, you must have at one time or another heard of this Great Artist known as 2Pac. Undoubtedly, one of his greatest albums 2 date, Pac shines in the peak of his short but strong lived career!

    All Eyez on Me

I think this cd was one of the best cd's of all time! Tupacs lyrics and his flows are hypnotizing. It doesn't ever get boring and if i need to here a good cd i just listin to all eyes on me. It was first double cd and it had many of the best west coast rappers on it. It was produced by one Dr.Dre, Daz Dillinger, Johnny J, which made all the beats just great. All in all he had an all star cast of artsit and producers and him alone was enough to make the cd one of the best of all time. He will always live on in his music and will never be forgotten.

    perfection of a lost one

all eyez on me by 2pac was the best I have ever heard from a rapper. If you've got time to just listen to every song on this album and try to put yourself in it, greif, mercy, pain, sorrow and victory will become your thought's. To this day I still listen to 2pac and will always keep him in my heart. We all need help!
