What People are saying about this

Karen L. Williams
From the moment Kristen sits on Santa's lap until she gets her Christmas wish, this book is one page after another of emotion, love and good clean fun. Lisa Mondello has made a sparkling debut. All I Want for Christmas is You is not to be missed, no matter what time of the year it is. (Karen L. Williams, author of The Wings of Love)
Shanna Murchison
Once again, Ms. Mondello has produced an excellent hero and heroine whom with empathize with immediately. Lauren's vulnerability, Kyle's quiet heroism, and daughter Kristen's charm and sweetness make this the perfect romance to lose yourself in for the holidays. (Shanna Murchison, The Druid's Woman, The Wizard Woman)
Betty Cox
Ms. Mondello gives the reader a sweet and tender Christmas fantasy involving a single mom, Lauren, her precocious six-year-old daughter Kristen, and a hero that could make anyone's Christmas List. (Betty Cox, WCRG on AOL Reviewer Board)
Jacinta Carey
A superb read which captures the joys of Christmas, and reminds us all of the true meaning of the Christmas season, loving, sharing and giving. Lauren's hard life has made her jaded, but Kyle shows her the true meaning of love and the importance of family as he gives all he has to make Kristen's Christmas special. It is never too late for love, and the romance in the novel sparkles like snowflakes on a crisp winter's night. (Jacinta Carey, The Wildest Heart)
Annabelle Stevens
A beautiful romance of loving and giving. I admired Lauren's character enormously. She was gutsy and determined, with none of the bitchiness which passes for independence in romance heroines. Kyle is simply the best Christmas present anyone could wish for, and the chemistry between the two is explosive. A wonderful cast of supporting characters, and gorgeous settings make this a real keeper. (Annabelle Stevens, Love's Sweet Song)

All I Want for Christmas is You by Lisa Mondello ebook First edition published 1998 by Neighborhood Press Book 1 of 3 in the Fate With A Helping Hand Series Kyle Preston knows what it is to change his life. Unwanted as a child he was ended up with the Preston's when he was twelve. After years of being unwanted he did what he could to push them away but they had staying power. Now at almost thirty, Kyle is glad they did. He straightened out and even became wealthy. While playing Santa at the Mall he owns, a young girl comes and says all she wants for Christmas is a daddy. For some reason Kyle feels the need to protect this young girl and her lovely mother. Lauren Alexander loves her daughter, Kristen. As a teen Lauren made one mistake that cost her the love of her family but she has her daughter and would not trade her for anything. Kyle helps her when her car don't start after leaving the mall and the next night he finds her at the tree lighting ceremony and has her invited to his parents for dinner the next night before she knows what hit her. The man is good looking and kind but she has learned from Jimmy and her own father, men don't stay around. Kyle has to prove he is different than the men in Lauren's life who have hurt her, and if nothing else he loves a challenge. He has built a big home and now he knows he wants Lauren and Kristen to be part of his family and to live there with him. This story has more to it than the rich Santa Claus meets struggling single mother. Kyle has a past he overcame and Lauren had a past she still needs to deal with. **Sexual situations.

A story about a lady with trust issues and her cute-as-a-button six year old and what happens when they meet a slightly interfering / pushy guy who just wants to do the right thing.  An enjoyable story, just right for a Christmas evening when you want to curl up with a book that isn't full of doom and gloom.

Ok, the only thing I did not like about this Christmas Story was the cover of the book.   Here's my rant, does it bother anyone besides me that the cover can be beautiful, but not match the characters in the book at all?    Lauren is an ash blonde and Kyle is like viking blonde...a true Nordic in appearance, so why are they displayed as brunettes on the cover.    I never really get this?!?!?! But that was my only dislike.   Because I believe in fiction and even insta love can happen in fiction.   The story happens between Thanksgiving and Christmas and it begins with a little girl giving Santa her Christmas wish and car trouble in the parking lot when the mall has closed.   Being the mall Santa and the CEO of the mall, Kyle Preston is the only one around to help a damsel in distress. This Christmas tale is about a 200 page read, and it moves quickly.   Lauren had raised her daughter without assistance for 6 years and she didn't trust men.   Her own father abandoned her in her hour of need and her baby's father walked away the night the babe was conceived.   Why would she ever allow a man to enter their lives only to be wounded and disappointed when the going got tough and he walked away? Kyle had been abandoned by his father in a court renouncement.   He was eighteen when his parents adopted him and aided him in turning his life around.   He was strong by the adopted parent's love and support and he had learned to trust and love in response.   He recognized himself in the mother and daughter duo he met in the mall.  And he was bound and determined to rescue them.   And then he fell in love. The characters really were believable and Kyle's family was just charming.  It was awesome to see Lauren face her fears and take one step at a time in finding true love.   And it was magical what one little girl received in this delightful tale of Christmas and dreams come true.   This was a real Christmas treat.

Lauren Alexander left home six years ago, just after her baby was born because her parents didn't want her to keep the child since she was unmarried and 18 years old. Lauren has raised Kristen by herself even though it was a struggle for her. She doesn't trust men at all because the father of her baby left once he found out she was pregnant. The other main character is Kyle Preston. He has had a tough life. He lived in foster care and when he was 12 he was finally placed with a family who loved him and adopted him. Kyle started out as a very troubled teenager and got into his fair share of trouble.  But thanks to his father, he turned his life around and became a very successful real estate developer. He is also handsome, well built, good sense of humor and considerate.  So absolutely PERFECT. Just before Christmas Kristen goes to see Santa in the mall.  Santa is Kyle Preston, who owns the mall.  Kristen asks Santa to bring her a Daddy for Christmas.  He explains that all the Daddy's are spoken for this year but once he sees Lauren, he would like to make Kristen's wish come true. All I Want For Christmas is a nice story but I expected more Christmasy stuff to it instead of just taking place at Christmas time. I liked the secondary characters in this novel.  Kyle's family was terrific, especially his parents. The editing could have been better.  It was irritating when Kyle's hair changed from blond to dark and back to blond.  Also Kyle's father's name changed from Will to Wally.

I WANTED to love this book, kept giving it one more chance.....but simply could not finish it. It reads like a beginner wrote it, without assistance of an editor (or even a critique group's assistance). The problems were so significant, I simply couldn't look past them enough to enjoy the story. Bottom line-- I've deleted this book from my Nook, and I want my three hours back! If I could get a refund from B&N, I'd do it! I typically give authors two or three tries before I categorically refuse to buy any more of their books. That said, I'm beyond leery of trying any more of Mondello's books; I fear I'm DONE. REASONS WHY ONLY TWO STARS: * BELOW-AVERAGE WRITING QUALITY: -- Heroine was simply TSTL (too stupid to live), all her "bluffing" had very poor motivation, and her motivation to reject the hero really sucked--made her simply unsympathetic. -- head hopping all over the place. Switched point-of-view characters without reason. -- worn-out phrases [i.e., bat out of hell, spill the beans, upset the apple cart, etc., etc., etc.] -- could not care about the hero or heroine because motivations and characterizations were pallid * BOOK HAS 3 COPYRIGHT YEARS, MOST RECENTLY 2011, BUT CONTENT HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED/ MADE CURRENT: --rather than "contemporary", it's set in 1990s. Ick. (no cell phone mention, no booster seat for 6 year old child, "late model" Ford's lights actually stayed on and ran battery down--this doesn't happen today!) * PLOT WEAKNESSES -- story meandered without direction, dragged, and scenes had little to do with direction of the story -- throughout, I found myself wondering if there WAS a plot! -- the "message" of the book that made it inherently a Christmas story was so heavy-handed (trying WAY too hard) it seemed the tale could've happened in any season....and even then, it's contrived. * GRAMMATICAL DISASTERS (this book desperately needs professional editing!) -- frequent misuse of plurals vs possessives: "Daddy's" when the correct use is "daddies", and "winters" when the correct use is "winter's". Why is this a problem? Because it snagged me out of the story. I read for immersion! The sheer number of these grammatical errors was shocking. -- repetitive mentions of the exact same content [i.e., "a quick glance in the rearview (yes, misspelled) mirror showed the little girl had already fallen asleep" then 5 paragraphs later, "she glanced over at Kristen and saw that she was already fast asleep."]

All I Want for Christmas is You, show the true meaning of hope and love among the characters in the story. There are to many girls that are walking in Lauren shoes. Some may never to get the chance to reconect with their parents until its to late. Hopefuly this book can open the eyes and hart of both parents and their daughter. I wolud love to see another book about Kyle and Lauren getting married. Lisa Mondello have hit a out of this world home run with, All I Want for Christmas is You. Thank you for the great book.

This is truly a sweet Christmas story that will surely touch and melt your heart. This story shows the true meaning of the Christmas spirit. Here are my thoughts: Lauren Alexander just wants to get her Christmas shopping down so that she can go home. Lauren's six year old daughter Kristen has yet to give her letter to Santa or sit on his lap. Kristen's fondest Christmas Wish is to have a father which absolutely breaks the heart of the gentleman playing Santa~Kyle Preston. Kyle would love to give this little girl her Christmas Wish more than anything. Lauren tries to start her car only to realize that her battery is dead. Kyle Preston sees a lady in trouble and decides to help out. Little did he or Lauren know that both of their worlds are about to be turned upside down. Lauren doesn't feel she has time for a relationship because all her time is taken up by Kristen. She doesn't trust people very much and wonders at their motives. Kyle wonders what he has to do for Lauren to see he's not like other people in her life. Will Lauren let Kyle into her heart? Can Kyle get past all of Lauren's defenses? Will Kristen get her Christmas Wish? Your answers await you in All I Want for Christmas is You.
