Overview

Pulling off the ultimate con…if they can keep from pulling off their clothes.

Rough Riders, Book 8

Keely McKay knows Jack—and Jack Donohue is a certified pain in her Wranglers. The lone girl in the prolific McKay family, Keely needs another man giving her orders like she needs a hole in her boot. What she does need is a restoration specialist so she can open her physical therapy clinic—and prove she’s left her wild-child days behind. That means dealing with buttoned-down, uptight Jack.

Jack is this close to securing a career make-or-break project, until he learns his lack of marital status puts him out of contention. When the notoriously hot-tempered and hot-bodied Keely begs him for help, he proposes a crazy idea. He’ll oversee her project—if she acts the part of his loving fiancée.

Their sizzling lust makes it all too easy to go from butting heads to knocking boots—but outside the bedroom they’re as mismatched as ever. The McKays remind Jack of the humble upbringing he left behind, and cowgirl Keely feels she doesn’t measure up to Jack’s big-city lifestyle.

When the dust settles, Jack and Keely must face the fact they’re not fooling anyone but themselves—or they’ll risk losing the real deal.

Warning: this book contains one hot-blooded cowgirl and one cool-headed businessman in a stripped-down, revved-up game of sexual truth or dare.

    I Also Recommend:

All Jacked Up....left me in a romance readers euphoric high

All Jacked Up continues my love affair with the Lorelei James's McKay family. What can I say I am a cowboy romance hero convert thanks to her Rough Rider series. This review is going to be rather short, but sweet because I LOVED absolutely everything about this story.

I loved Jack. I love his drive for success despite his ill conceived intentions. He is like so many Americans who live to work and the concept of "more" is never enough. Yet despite this flaw, and even though he's a little bit Dom, he's a whole lot sweet underneath all of his tough GQ exterior. Love him!

And Keely.she's who I would like to be when I grow up. Even if I am already waaaay older than she is supposed to be. She is who she is and does not make apologies for her life or how she chooses to lead it. And lead it she has. We have had glimpses of her character in most of the Rough Rider books. She's fun, and caring, and no one does more for her family than she does. She's the exact opposite to Jack. She works to live and her work is her passion.

I loved that the sparks flew, despite the obvious attraction because both had fallen into a pattern of baiting bad behavior from each other. And unlike a lot of contemporary romances where the heat level is high, the evolution of their relationship is not based solely on sex. The reader isn't left wondering how they went from barely tolerating each others presence....to realizing they love each other just because of a few tussles between the sheets so to speak. You get to experience how they transform from enemies, to partners in crime, to lovers, and finally to being "in love" with each other. It's one of the things I loved most about this story.

For me, this was a perfect romance read. It had everything that I love about a romance no matter the genre. There is not one thing that I wish were different..except for this: I hated for it to end. I was left basking in the glow of a reader high.a romance euphoria if you will. I hated to start another book. I knew I was going to loose that joy of just having completed reading a fantastic story. It would be inevitable that the next book couldn't possibly live up to my experiences while reading All Jacked Up. So what was my solution to this dilemma you might ask? I read a different book by Lorelei James that I had not read yet :) Sadly, I've now read her backlist and will have to patiently wait until next year for her new book, Corralled: A Blacktop Cowboys Novel. To summarize...All Jacked Up is one of my favorite reads of the year.

Ratings: 5.0 stars (if I could give it more I would!)

p.s. if you haven't read any of the previous Rough Riders series, I highly recommend them, but unlike some of the others I DO think you can read this one as a stand alone and not feel lost amidst all of the secondary characters that comprise the McKay and West families.

    My favorite in the series

This was by far my favorite in the Rough Rider series! Jack and Keely felt like real people. We actually got to see their relationship develop and while the sex is great, it doesn't seem like that is all there is between them. I've enjoyed all the other Rough Rider books but sometimes it seemed like the characters love sex not each other. Here I totally felt the real love they had for each other. Great read! Could not put it down!

    OMG!

I have never, ever laughed so hard at a romance novel in my whole life. I can't wait to see if she writes one about Luke's widow, Jessie, and Luke's brother(?). I hope to God it's like this. I never dreamed that any other couple than my husband and my self were this snarky with one another and STILL wanted to rip each other's clothes off. The banter in this is wonderful, and Keely's ultimate submission is beyond sweet, probably because she's such a hellion. Thanks, Lorelei. This and Strong Silent Type are my definite faves. This whole series is worth the time and money.

I love that Jack and Keely get a book. It is a good read and I

I love that Jack and Keely get a book. It is a good read and I relate to this very much. I have 4 brothers and mostly guy cousins and they treat me the same way. I love the way is a go get her and so is Keely. This book is hot. Fireworks explode from anger to sex. I don't want to say to much about the story, but I loved it. It made me laugh so hard at time and cry at a couple. These two are a riot to read with their tempers and set in their way attitudes. I hope there's more about these two in other books of the series. I'd like to see more of the relationship later on.

    Highly Recommended

Once again Lorelei James delivers with a terrific story. Keely McKay is the only girl McKay and seems to be underestimated by most of her family who still sees her as a wild child when she still has that bit of wild in her but has become quite a responsible woman. She has hated Jack for a couple of years but knows she has to see him as he is best friends with one of her brothers. She blames him for his brother breaking up with her. However, they bring out the best and worst in each other. The sparks fly off the page and they are totally believable. The fight the attraction they have for each other as they fight each other over just about everything. This book has some very funny dialogue in it. Once they decide to go through with a "fake" engagement to benefit the both of them things seem to spiral out of control but they seem to finally be able to get to know each other better and find out they both have some very nice qualities as they get closer and closer. This book was a great read from beginning to end. Some of the books overlap each other which really does not hurt the flow of the series at all.

OMG! What a story. Highly recommend not just this one but the entire series!

Love fiesty, passionate, hold no prisoner's Keely McKay. She's loving, compassionate, giving with a bad-ass cowgirl attitude. Love her. Jack, a.k.a. GQ is a very sexy, driven, takes no B.S. kind of guy. Doesn't take Keely's B.S. or none of her brothers! Must check out the entire series. Right now I am on story #10!!!!

    Loved it!

Another great story! Although the series has explicit sexual content, the stories grab you on a personal level. You really can envision yourself in the very large family and i love the way everyone else's stories intertwine so that you are updated on their lives! Can't wait to read the next book!

A beautiful love story not to be missed

This is truly a beautiful love story with a few very rough edges. I have read it 5 times and will read it again. This is the first book I read of Lorelei James. First I noticed some of the writing had a lot of cliches, was a bit cheesy. The first page of this book for example. But this is only SOME of the writing. Most is fine and th dialog is great. But Ms. James's gift is relaying the true emotions of her characters. Although the setup of this book is stock for many romances (they are pretending they are engaged, and surprise surprise fall in love), nothing else is stock. There are no strange misunderstandings or willful mysteries. Jack is absolutely transformed by his love for Keely into a better man (and good thing too). Keely has her life brought together and made complete by Jack. All of the characters emotions ring absolutely true. The second thing about this book, and all Ms. James's books is that the sex is EXPLICIT. At first I was totally shocked and made sure my kids didn't find this book. But the sex in this story in particular is part of the story. Keely and Jack are afraid to express themselves in words, but do it through their lovemaking instead. So it is not just gratuitous descriptions. Also, there are none of those weird "I have to have control in the bedroom" things going on here that appear in some of the other books in this series. That being said, I really liked this book MORE after reading the others. The McKay characters are a little bit 2-dimensional here, so reading their stories in other books makes this one make more sense. This is the best of the series in my opinion. If you like romance, read this book. You will not regret it.

    very good!

Book 8 in the series deals with feisty Keely and Carter's friend, Jack. They concoct a plot to fake being engaged, and of course, true love eventually prevails. I enjoyed the steamy sex scenes, but also learning a bit about Keely's relationship with her brothers. If you've read all the Rough Rider books so far, you really feel like a part of the McKay family.

    The Best!!!

Sexiest book ever! I love reading about the heart stopping, drop dead gorgeous McKay men, but it was nice to read about their only sister. James did it again with witty conversations, funny situations, and rock your socks off sex. It is a HOT book.
