All Killer, No Filler

All Music Guide - Jason Birchmeier
It would be a mistake to view Sum 41 as just another second-rate band cashing in on the early-'00s punk-pop boom, even if it did recruit Jerry Finn to produce All Killer No Filler. Just as Finn had done for both blink-182 and Green Day, he charges Sum 41's punk-pop with a razor-sharp edge, the sort of dynamic in-your-face sound that helps this music cross over to MTV and radio so well. Besides the notable production, a lot of credit should go to the band as well. Its songwriting is obviously more diverse here than it was a year earlier on its debut album, Half Hour of Power; for example, the group's rap and '80s metal influences rise to the surface more frequently here...

Its songwriting is obviously more diverse here than it was a year earlier on its debut album, Half Hour of Power; for example, the group's rap and '80s metal influences rise to the surface more frequently here than on that first album and instill a fun sense of camp. "Fatlip" is perhaps the best example of how Sum 41 has made an effort to diversify the music with more than just power chords and melodic punk vocals. Judging from this album, Sum 41 still isn't quite on the same level as alt-rock peers such as Weezer or Green Day, but the band is obviously headed in the right direction. In the meantime, it's difficult not to enjoy this album for what it is, even if it's a bit derivative.

    A reviewer

Awesome music. Maybe even better than Hoobastank, but has explicit lyrics. I hate that.

Will change to be your #1 favorite!

That's correct, WILL change about what you think about your current favorite band. When I first heard "The Hell Song," I knew they had more good stuff. Great riffs, lyrics, solos, and more. Every song is fully packed. A few real great ones that anyone would like: "Rythms, In too deep, Makes no difference."

Sum 41 Is My Favorite Rock Band Ever!

This is the best Sum 41 CD out yet. I also have Does This Look Infected and Half Hour of Power but this CD has so much metal, rock, and punk mixed together it creates a own catogory. I would highly recommend this CD. My favorite songs are "Fat Lip", "Never Wake Up", and "In Too Deep" these songs you should really listen too. Sum 41 is a great band and this CD is no exception

Maybe the greatest CD i've heard in a while

The main reason I bought this album is because I saw the ''Fat Lip'' music video on MTV2 one night. I didn't catch who sang it, but about a week ago I borrowed All Killer No Filler from a friend of mine and recognized that #4 was that song. This time I remembered which song and who the artist was and I purchased the CD. I love it! It has stayed almost constantly in my CD player.

    The Best So Far.....

Sum 41's second album ''All Filler No Killer'' is the best so far.... I think this is a land mark in their career and some of their future martial will get even better and I see them around for a lot more years with great tunes. I really suggest Sum 41 - All Filler No Killer to everyone.

    Five Stars Isn't Enough!!

This is a downright kick-booty CD. If you don't own this CD, you're out of your mind! It's a great CD, with an awesome punk/pop sound that'll really keep you on the ball. If you enjoy Blink-182, Green Day, MxPx, or even origional punk groups like the Ramones, Sum*41 is a definate necesity to your CD collection!

    giving punk a good name

Sum 41 is paving a road for punk. Even though they are just starting, I think they have already outdone some previous punk bands. Of course, no one out-does Blink 182, but they are close. Real close. ''Pain for Pleasure'' has got to be my favorite song as of right now. I don't know why... maybe It's the ''lyrics'' (lol). This CD has more than just 1 or 2 good songs on it... the whole album is awesome!
