Nathan kept his arm around Terra as he returned the woman's smile. "Mistress Desire, I believe?"
"Yes, sugar, in the flesh. Think you can handle what I've got?" Nathan shrugged. "I believe it's possible."
"Oh, cocky." The woman's smile turned into an evil grin. "I like that."
"This blue room," Nathan said, "is it popular?"
"Oh, yeah."
Terra glanced down at Mistress Desire's hand and found it incredibly close to Nathan's crotch. She felt a strange stab of jealousy.
The emotion brought her focus back to the case. "Think we'll find Mr. Matthews there?"
Mistress Desire shrugged as she leaned closer to Nathan and sniffed. "Possibly. Everyone goes to the blue room sooner or later."
Nathan's grip tightened around Terra's body. "Yes," he said, his voice a purr, "I think we're ready. Don't you, my pet?"
My pet?
Terra nearly rolled her eyes. "Uh, yes, I guess so."
"Good." Mistress Desire walked slowly around them, then crooked a finger. "This way."
As they followed her toward one of the doors, Terra found herself shaking again. This time, however, it wasn't desire causing her body to react, but fear. What exactly happened in the blue room?
Nathan leaned over and whispered in her ear. "Don't worry, I'll protect you."
"Like I need protecting," she whispered back.
But she was afraid she might.
The strange thing was that Terra believed Nathan's promise.
