Meet the Author

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 -1892) was a British Particular Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers". He was a strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition, defending the Church in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith understanding, and opposing the liberal and pragmatic theological tendencies in the Church in his day. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times each week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was part of several controversies with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and later had to leave that denomination. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him posthumously. Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, poetry, hymnist, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime.

    Awesome

Spurgeon explains what the gospel is so well and beautifully. If you don't understand what Christianity is all about: READ THIS! If you are a Christian and want to spend your time well, read this and sit in awe that there is a God who justifies the ungodly.

The need, way and means of finding God.

Charles Spurgeon, called the Prince of Preachers, has written the best explanation of why people need salvation; How that salvation was provided through Christ Jesus; and How righteousness is obtained for one's soul. If there is one book to give someone to read that can change their life forever then this could be the one. The Gospel found in the Holy Scripture is most important and this book contains and could possibly be the best explanation of what the Gospel truly is. If you've gone to church your whole life and heard preachers and priests speak of the Gospel but never truly understood what that meant then this is the book to read and share. Spurgeon is direct and to the point and oh so simple to understand. Read this book and then buy numerous copies to give to anyone who inquires about the Gospel and God and salvation.
