This book is now my favorite of all time. It is so moving that you won't want it to end, ever. But when it does end, you find yourself crying over the losses Paul has suffered, and wondering why wars have to happen in the first place. Five stars. Was this review helpful? Obviously a timeless classic. Read it if you have any hope of understanding a bit of war and soldiers.
On a side note, there are the occasional glitches in translation (with funky characters replacing whole words or names). Still, its only a minor point.

It amazes me how revealing this book is towards post combat social disorders. To think some phd from the 70s thought he discovered PTSD. This should be issued as a textbook to any medical student. One of my favorite pieces of literature!!!
