Big Star, Small-Town Christmas

Country singer Riley Jensen would never have returned to her small Missouri hometown if her publicist hadn't come up with the scheme to tape a Christmas special there. So she never would have known that the man who broke her heart at eighteen—causing her to flee to Nashville—was now a widower with a seven-year-old daughter. Riley has ten years of angst-filled hit songs and Grammy awards to prove she doesn't need Ethan Kent. But suddenly, she can't help thinking of all she gave up by running away...

Ethan Kent knew Riley had the talent and the drive to make it as a singer. He also knew she wasn't going anywhere if she stayed in their nowhere town for him. Then one night and one huge mistake sent her running on the road to fame. Which doesn't mean he ever stopped loving her...

But with so much separating them, can Riley and Ethan find their way back together one magical country Christmas?

Meet the Author

Jaci Burton is a bestselling, award winning author who lives in Oklahoma and spends a fair amount of time on the back of her husband's Harley, where she often gets lost plotting her next story as the warm (and sometimes cold) breeze whips her face. She loves reality television, is a sucker for romantic comedies, and completely loses track of time when reading a great book. She's a total romantic and longs for the happily ever after in every story, which you'll find in all her books.

I loved this book. I read A Rare Gift at first and then HAD to buy this book too. I can not get enough of the Kent famly. This book is so sweet... Trust me, you will fall in love with the Kent brothers and the rest of the family within the first couple of pages. This is definatley a good read.

My Review: This was another sweet little holiday read. This story was about high school sweethearts that had a horrible heartbreaking breakup after a betrayal, which sent Riley running off to Nashville and Ethan running into another girl's arms. On the surface, things have worked out for both of them. Riley is a huge country star and Ethan has a beautiful little girl in Zoey that he adores, but neither one of these two have forgotten or gotten over their passion and love for each other, although it's been 10 years since they saw each other. I loved the premise of this story and the angst and emotion that is at the base of it. I felt the pain all the way to the core of Ethan's character, but had a harder time connecting with Riley. I think that was probably more of a personal thing with me though, rather than any kind of writing flaw in the book. She just wasn't a character that I connected with. I loved the Kent aspect of it, especially at Christmastime. Ethan is a part of this big, loving family. Riley, on the other hand, grew up without any family. When she ran away from it all ten years ago, she not only lost the love of her life, but she also lost the stability from the Kent family. So why did I feel more empathy for Ethan than I did for Riley while reading this book?? I am telling you, it makes no sense. Part of it may be because she is so mature about it and the fact that she just wants to be past it, whereas Ethan still has regrets. Despite my VERY confused emotions about this book, the one thing that I am sure of is that I definitely enjoyed it. I loved getting to know these characters and giggled about the precocious little Zoey...a lot. It's a sweet book and I am very glad that I read it.

This was a great feel good story that made me feel like I was part of the story. I would have liked there to be more to the ending of the story, but it has to end at some point. Would love to know how things turn out with the characters!

I started this book before Christmas but didn't have the quiet time to get into it. This is a great "feel good" book. I would have chosen different grammer in some spots but still a very enjoyable read.

Even with holiday setting and a cute child there was something missing in this sexy second chance love story for me. I felt the H/h needed some more pages to develop and rebuild before we get to HEA.

I love Jaci Burton books. I own all Hope Novels and Play-by-Play novels that are out so far and I love them. Saying that... I hated this book from the first paragraph. I don't read anything that includes cheating and I couldn't get through it.
