This book is an amazing resource for actors at all levels who perform Shakespeare. It's easy to use and comprehensive. Along with the invaluable pronunciation dictionary it includes an extremely helpful section on scanning and notes on each of the plays. It will give you an extra boost of confidence when you walk into any Shakespeare audition or rehearsal.

'All the Words on Stage' is a much needed resource book for every theater company, actor, student-actor, and reader of Shakespeare's plays. Not only is the book organized in a user-friendly way but it is crammed with information - the pronunciation of every word but also a chapter on scanning the lines, a Latin section, and a short paragraph about each of the plays. Surfing the net I found the book's website and it was extremely informative. It is WWW.ALLTHEWORDSONSTAGE.COM. For anyone who wants some information about the book before purchasing it, this is a terrific way to investigate it.

All the Words on Stage should be in every class room and theater in America (and Canada and England). The attention to detail is extraordinary. Not only is the basic pronunciation of each word given but also the pronunciations that are possible depending on how the line is scanned! The chapter on Scanning and the Afterthoughts at the end of the book are also excellent. Strongly recommended for students, actors and everyone who reads Shakespeare.

What an amazing dictionary. No longer do we have to trip over the words in Shakespeare's plays. Every word you look for is listed in an easy to find format. The way the words are spelled out is so clear that you don't even need the Guide to Pronunciations. I've looked at another book on pronuciations in Shakespeare's plays but it was not complete and the way it was put together was confusing. 'All the Words on Stage' is set up with a straight alphabetical listing just like a regular dictionary. I recommend it to anyone who loves to read or act Shakespeare!

I have been searching for a book like this for years but nothing existed until the authors researched and wrote 'All the Words on Stage'! It is so thorough - every word you need is here. The only other pronunciation books I've seen are incomplete (don't include all of the plays) or one of them just has the character names. This book is so accessible and can be used in any productions from professional theater to community theater. It will get Shakespeare off of the dusty library shelves and on to the stage. I think the point of a production of Shakespeare is for it to be clear enough that the audience understands the extraordinary language. This book will go a long way towards making that happen. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Shakespeare.

While working on Shakespeare, I often find myself wondering how much the sense of the text is being sacrificed because of my uncertainties with pronunciations. 'All the Words on Stage' has helped me tremendously in making sense of Shakespeare's text. I think every actor should have this book. Hooray! Thank you!

I stumbled upon this book because I was just cast in a production of Midsummer Night's Dream and thought it would come in handy. Boy, has it ever! I've used it to look up EVERY word I was unsure of...and there were MANY! I'm embarrassed at how many words in Shakespeare I've mispronounced both in class and in productions in the past (and nobody told me about it!). This book is great!

I couldn't have asked for a more concise and easy to use tool for all ages. The book is complete with the pronunciations for not only the innumerable amount of questionable words in Shakespeare, but it also has a summary of how language was used in each of Shakespeare's plays, as well as a complete Latin section for all of those impossible to pronounce phrases. This will prevent all the disagreements and arguments that are caused as a result of differing opinions on Shakespeare's pronunciation. It levels out the playing field of Sir William for a price that won't hurt your pockets, in a size that won't hurt your back, and a format that won't hurt your brain. Well worth the investment!

Talk about demystification! This is a very easy-to-read, exhaustively researched and clearly written guide for actors, students (of all ages) and anyone arguing about Shakespeare around the dinner table. The authors have filled a real need for Shakespeare fans by writing this book. Thank you!

This book is comprehensive, easy to use, and necessary for any actor who does Shakespeare. I am hard pressed for a more useful book to help the actor transfer Shakespearean text from the page to the stage. Buy this book-you will not be disappointed!

As a student, facing the formidable task of acting Shakespeare, I believe this book is indispendable! Ms. Younts and Mr. Scheeder have taken on an ovewhelming challenge, and created a book that should be required on every actor's bookshelf!

As a acting student, who is often given the challenge of performing Shakespeare, I can say that this book is SIMPLY INDISPENSABLE. Ms. Younts and Mr. Scheeder have taken on an absolutely monumental task, and created a book that every student of acting should be required to own. If you don't own it....BUY IT!!! You will be glad that you did!

Without this guide I would be lost when speaking Shakespeare. It is a key which unlcoks Shakespeare's music.

What a wonderful blessing this book is for all of us.It is so simply laid out and so easily understandable that anyone is capable of using this book from the actor to the audience to the person who simply likes to read Shakespeare.This book takes away a fear that american actors have about not being able to perform Shakspeare. I find this book to be flawless and it should belong in everyone's home library.

This book is an indispensable guide for anyone directing, performing or studying Shakespeare. Written by two master teachers, it has been painstakingly researched and designed with great care. This book allows me to glide over the Bard's Prose with an 'ffortless tongue. Whilst I feel more meaning from the words, when I knowth how to speakst correctly. I think its a great tool for any actor to get at the truth that lies within the text.

What an extraordinary book. We've been waiting a long time for a pronunciation dictionary with all of the words in Shakespeare. The years of research that must have gone in to this boggles the mind. Students, actors, directors, and everyone who loves Shakespeare will want a copy of this book.

Shane Ann Younts teaches Techniques of Voice and Text classes in the Graduate Acting Department at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, specializing in the texts of Shakespeare. She also teaches and coaches actors for theater, film, and television at her Manhattan studio. She has served as Voice Consultant for Broadway, off-Broadway, and regional theater productions including The Guthrie Theater, The Public Theater and The Pearl Theatre. She previously taught at The Public Theater's Summer Shakespeare Lab, The Juilliard School (Drama Division), The American Academy of dramatic Arts, and NYU (Undergraduate Drama) in the Classical Studio.
