Overview

Wayne, scarred physically and emotionally, has a background in special-ops he's trying to forget. But he gets his arm twisted into helping a quirky group of seniors who've been scammed out of their retirement. Breaching the con man's high-security island estate, Wayne recovers the stolen money in an action sequence worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster. Case closed.
A savvy young lawyer, though, is intrigued by Wayne's success and wants to hire him to crack another puzzling case. Tatyana's wealthy employer thinks he's been visited by...an angel? Did a messenger from God in a pinstripe suit truly bring a divine warning, or is this merely another cruel hoax?
As the two battle unknown enemies within and without, Tatyana fears for her boss's life. She must trust Wayne to solve the mystery, but can she trust him with her heart? Wayne's cynical veneer begins to crack as Tatyana's confidence allows a chance to glimpse himself in a new light. What if he were visited by an angel? With a whispered message, a world of possibilities unfolds.

I was looking forward to reading Davis Bunn's new book but didn't really know what to expect. I'm glad that I kept an open mind while reading because he blew me away with this book! It was such an interesting twist (hello - we're talking about a special ops accountant here people!) and in the first quarter of the book Wayne manages to wrap up the old people's trouble. I thought that was going to be the main jist, but noooo, it was only getting started there! And can we say supporting cast? We have a retired cop with a thing against juvies, an old man that sits in airports in his spare time and a 13 year old juvie. Oh, and there is an old lady who stays in close contact with God and they all live in a retirement village. Don't forget that Wayne isn't a Christian and his sister is a member of the cloth. Hmmm, and that is only the beginning. This is a must read people - don't miss out!!!

I started off by reading the Acts of Faith Trilogy written by Mr. Bunn in collaboration with Janette Oke. They were an exceptionally well written set of books and I've been looking for a follow on book. Finally, I decided to try another book by Mr. Bunn even if it wasn't in the same genre. I decided to start with "All Through the Night". It is a modern day tale of suspense and intrigue revolving around a former Special Ops Soldier who has 'given up' on ever finding happiness. The 'review' of the Story is accurate and I would not argue with it. What I would like to emphasize is the word 'gratuitous' - I have become used to the fact that there is often sex and/or violence in a story that does not need to be there. It is NOT integral to the plot or the story line; it is just 'thrown in' to titillate. It was thoroughly refreshing to find a 'good old fashioned story of suspense and intrigue' with the possibility of a love story on the side that is treated in a chaste and caring manner.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Anyone looking for a good christian book that has a lot of action and is fast paced, will love this book. It leaves you with a strong message without being "preachy"!

I'm always looking for Christian authors I haven't read before. I found Bunn by looking through the local Christian bookstore sale paper and when I looked up the authors on BN I was thrilled to find another free book. The story is great! Can't wait to finish it!

I truly enjoyed the mixture of great characters and how very different they were, yet how they were same. Wayne is my kind of hero, not perfect, but a wonderful man who just needs grace like the rest of us. I hope to find a book #2 as there certainly is a lot more to this story.

Good plot though I would have liked to see the romance resolved. Also deals with God and faith.

THIS IS ONE OF MY NEW FAVORITE BOOKS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO ANY CHRISTIAN PERSON WHO DOSE NOT MIND A LITTLE ACTION BUT AT THE SAME TIME IT IS ALSO TOUCHING. I MUST ADMIT THERE WAS TIMES I FELT LIKE JUST GRABBING A GUN AND TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS AND ALSO CRYING AT HOW MUCH IT MADE ME REALIZE I NEED CHRIST. READ IT YOU HAVE TO.

One thing about Bunn's books is that you cannot put them down and you can read them over and over. This one, is one that I will read over and recommended to my friends that read and love books like I do. AWESOME! That is all I need to say.
