All Music Guide - Tim Sendra
Titling Rick Nelson's entry in Collectables' budget best-of series, Priceless Collections, All Time Greatest Hits may be a bit of a stretch, as it doesn't include Nelson's comeback smash "Garden Party," but it comes very close nonetheless. The tracks are taken from early in Nelson's career when he was still a convincing rocker and include great rockabilly tracks like "Be-Bop Baby," "Waitin in School," and "If You Can't Rock Me"; teen ballads like "Stood Up," "It's Late," and "Hello Mary Lou"; and one of the saddest, most haunting songs ever recorded, "Lonesome Town." At only 12 tracks, the disc rushes by far too quickly, but it does serve as a good introduction to the work of one of the most underrated early rockers. However, you are going to want more Rick Nelson once you hear him, so you might as well spend a couple bucks more and get a hold of a longer compilation, like Capitol's Greatest Hits from 2001, which covers much more of Nelson's career, or Ace's Rockin' With Ricky, which has 32 of his best rock & roll sides.
