Overview

As a foster parent, I not only have to protect the children I care for, but I also have to protect myself and family.

The one thing you dread is having an allegation made against you, as the damage can be irreparable, and sometimes you have to prepare yourself for the worst and hope it doesn't happen.

As an experienced foster carer for nearly thirteen years, I assumed that if I was ever to find myself in a situation like this, I would have all the help and support I need from the local authority or fostering agency.

The one thing I wasn't prepared for however was the damage being caused from the local authority, and the devastating effects it would have on me and my family.

How do you protect yourself from that? Read my true account of just how one allegation can nearly destroy a life, and how one social worker can abuse their authority, and use their power to threaten an innocent family.

I am the authour of this book, and I have been told by those that have read it, that is an inspiration to foster carers and those who work within the local authority and fostering organisations.

This book was not written with any malice intended, or any intent to damage anyones reputations. It was written from the heart, and as the result of a very personal experience. It has not been written to put anyone off fostering or adoption, and if anything I also agree with social workers who have told me that they think it should be used as a fostering tool, and should be viewed as helpful, not critical. It has been helpful to foster carers who have also been the subject of an allegation.Fostering is an extremly worthwhile vocation, and there is a shortage worldwide of foster carers, and an every growing need for children to be cared for by people other than they're families. I have also written a second book which is available for sale mid to end of Aug this year, entitled SHE CALLED "ME" MUMMY.
