Meet the Author

Monique Vagueiro holds a BA in Liberal Arts, Childhood Education, and English and is currently doing her MA in Literacy Studies at Manhattanville College in New York. She is an English Language learner and her first language is Portuguese. She was diagnosed with celiac disease in July 2012. She lives in New Rochelle, New York, with her parents and brother. She spent time teaching in the classroom and observed the fact that students were constantly being
bullied because of their allergies and beliefs. She is a strong advocate of children and believes that no matter where you come from or who you are, everyone deserves an equal chance to learn and succeed. She has been living a gluten-free and dairy-free life for over a year and has overcome many obstacles along the way. Monique is a family-oriented woman who enjoys family dinners and walks through the neighborhood. She strives to push forward the message that we cannot continue to allow students to get bullied in the classroom. Parents need to be aware of what is happening in schools. Her hope is that this book will let people know that bullying starts very young. This book is her push toward educating the world about what is happening in our classrooms and how we can help students, parents, and teachers become advocates to change it.
