This is one of the best Crazy Quilt books I've ever seen. She goes way beyond basic seam embroidery to things I had never thought to try. I can get instructions for the embroidery stitches used to decorate the seams on a Crazy Quilt anywhere - the internet or any of a dozen books. Allie has an entire chapter on creating your own fabrics where she discusses various types of image transfer, stenciling, or even using Angelina. In her section on materials and tools, she covers all the basic types of thread and quite a few I'd never heard of.
She has Tip boxes scattered throughout the book that I found very helpful. Her section on building CQ blocks was also very interesting. In addition to the traditional methods I've read about elsewhere, she has some new ideas that I'm already trying out. The chapter on embellishments was so fun, especially the three-dimensional flowers.
And then, of course, the gallery. That alone would be worth buying the book. It is a collection of pictures of the most beautiful Crazy Quilts I've ever seen. I'm definitely inspired.
All in all, as a long time sane quilter and a fairly recent Crazy Quilter, I found this book to be invaluable. I highly recommend it.
