Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carrie Hane Hung
Learn to differentiate between an alligator and a crocodile by some of its features and characteristics. Find out which of the two reptiles has the wide and rounder snout and which one has a snout that is long and pointed. The color photographs fill the pages. The alligator information and snapshot is consistently on the left and the crocodile is on the right. The information on each page is about two or three sentences. One chapter summarizes all the differences and the final chapter provides information about where crocodiles and alligators live around the world. With support from an adult, younger children may enjoy examining the pictures and comparing the physical features of the alligator and reptile. Young readers may enjoy reading the book and may need some adult guidance with the content vocabulary of this informational text. There is a list of a few vocabulary words with a pronunciation guide located on the page after the table of contents. Readers searching for more information will find a list of books and web sites. This book is part of the "Which Animal is Which?" series. The books follow a similar format. The series makes a great addition to a study on animals. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
