Overview

In the last ten years, Carolly Hanson has died six times. First in a car crash, then of TB. Beaten, stoned, and shot in the back. The last time, she suffocated from pneumonia.

Now she's awake, again, and in the arms of James Oscar Henry Northram, Earl of Traynern.

Carolly Hanson must be in training to be an angel. Why else would she keep dying and reappearing in different places and times? Clearly she is to help people, help them find true love, if she is to win her wings.

And the handsome Earl, clearly a stiff-backed, dark-brooding man of means, will be her next victim—er, beneficiary.

James Oscar Henry Northram is fascinated by Carolly's odd sense of humor, and compelled by her strange forthright manner and complete lack of interest in trapping him into marriage.

He also thinks poor Carolly is a Bedlam escapee and isn't the least bit interested in the women she keeps pushing in his direction.

Why must Carolly be forced to suffer death only to live again? Could the answer be as close as his embrace?

An author of more than 30 romance novels, she's decided that life can be full of joy without ever getting up from her chair.

The heroine is charming, humorous, & full of determination. The handsome lord is strong, kind, but quite a stuffed shirt. He thinks she's quite mad because she insists she's a time traveller trying to earn her angel wings! There's suspense, funny situations, evil, sadness, and romance. Though i was enthralled by the two previous books in this series, i enjoyed this lighter break from the darker aura of those two.

I received a copy of this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for my honest review. On a ride through his lands one day, James Oscar Henry Northram, Earl of Traynern comes across a unconscious woman, beaten to within an inch of her life. As she recovers physically at his estate, James fears for the woman's mental state, as all she can recall is that her name is Carolly and that she believes herself to be an angel who is being repeatedly returned to earth as an angel in training after having tragically wasted her own first life. She believes it is her mission to find love for the first person she encounters each time she is returned to earth--in this case, James. Unfortunately, it is not hard to predict how the plot unfolds as Carrolly tries to convince James and herself that she is not an escaped Bedlamite, and when she attempts to enourage romantic relationships between James and other women. Carrolly and James' interactions and dialog are quite light-hearted and humorous, and the book is a very quick read. While I was not left dying to read the rest of the books in the Regency Rags to Riches Series, I did enjoy reading Almost an Angel and will try another book by Jade Lee.
