Although Cameron Crowe and others have borrowed the title, this is the original--and a good book it is. First published in 1982, it was a finalist for the National Book Award and was widely praised. It's never been out of print--which ought to tell you something. The synopsis makes it sound like a dark book, but it's really quite funny and it has a hard-won happy ending. For those of you who aren't sports fans, be assured it's not about baseball. It's about dusting yourself off and getting on with your life after fate sticks a curveball in your ear. You'll like it, I guarantee. If you would like to send your copy along, I'll be happy to autograph for you.
