Overview

Craving the spotlight is in her blood.

Ever since high school student Anastasija Parker discovered she was vampire royalty, her life has been sort of crazy. The half-vampire- half-witch just wants some normalcy, and trying out for the spring musical seems like the perfect fix.

But when the ancient talisman that stands between vampire freedom and slavery to witches is stolen, Ana has to skip rehersal and track down the dangerous artifact before someone uses it to make this year's curtain call her last...

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
Gr 8–10—Picking up right where Almost to Die For (NAL, 2010) left off, Hallaway continues to weave an action-packed story filled with twists, turns, and lots of suspense. Raised as a witch, Anastasija Parker has always been an outsider and led a secret life. Then, on her 16th birthday, she discovers that she is a dhampir (half witch and half vampire). Now she is torn between two groups that are sworn mortal enemies. As if things weren't complicated enough, she has deep feelings for Elias Constantine, her vampire protector and betrothed, as well as Nikolai Kirov, coven member and vampire hunter in training. Talk about having some serious issues to work out. As Ana tries to balance these opposing forces, she learns of a mystical talisman that was assumed lost. Used against the vampires, it can render them slaves to the witches for all eternity. As a dhampir, Ana is not blinded by ancient hatred and is possibly the only one capable of putting an end to this archaic feud. Ana is a true heroine who makes her voice heard. She is not willing to take things at face value and struggles to find a way to walk the fine line between two worlds. This is a satisfying read, but it leaves readers knowing that there is more to come.—Donna Rosenblum, Floral Park Memorial High School, NY

You Have Got To get this book!!! :D

Ok, i have read both books, and i decided to write a review on tis one first. TOtally great book i looved it! i would not put this book down at all! it has so much in the book that, when i read a normal book, i get wrapped up in it, and it almost feels like i am in the book. it is a great book. totally love it. it is a little more better than the first one only because it has difference, more passsion, and many different things i cannot explain. totally get this book! :D

The latest Vampire Princess urban fantasy is a wonderful tale

Her mom the witch raised Anastasija Parker in St. Paul. Ana assumed her father was a deadbeat dad. On her sixteenth birthday, Ana learned the truth about her sire the vampire king (see Almost to Die For). Her father demands she sit by his side while her mother wants her to remain at home with her.

The confused hybrid learns her blood lines loath each other; wishing the other species a speedy painful death. Complicating her convoluted life is two males who claim her as respectively theirs; Ingress lead singer Nik Kirov the apprentice vampire hunter in training and Elias Constantine her vampire knight betrothed. Ana wants to return to the normalcy of being a Stassen High School student so she tries for a part in the spring musical. Instead she is caught in the middle once again when a powerful ancient artifact is stolen from the Minnesota Historical Society that if deployed would make half of her DNA enslaved to the other half of her DNA.

The latest Vampire Princess urban fantasy (see Almost to Die For) is a wonderful tale due to Ana who has come a long way in a short time; now that she accepts she will not be a True Witch in her mom's coven, but has doubts about sitting on the vamp throne. The story line is fast-paced and loaded with action as the heroine tames the most treacherous dangerous in the wild species on the planet: the male while also trying to insure a sort of status quo between her two races. Old students will enjoy touring Minnesota escorted by Ana and her retinue in this delightful fantasy version of High School Musical and the Princess Diaries.

    I Also Recommend:

I CANNOT wait for May 3!!!!

If you have not checked out Mrs. Tate's first Vampire Princess novel do yourself a favor and go do that now! IT was so awesome, amazing, and funny! I cannot wait to read more of Ana's adventures and the hot guys she has in her life! :D Seriously girls, you can't not love these guys! ;)
I hope Ana has many more adventures because this sure is a series I'd like to be able to read for a long time.
Ms. Tate is supremely talented and I think any appreciator of YA fiction would love her writing! So go read Almost To Die For right now so we can be excited for Almost Final Curtain together! :)
