Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Caitlin Marineau
Underwear and absurdity abound in this adaptation from the animated television series Almost Naked Animals, which features three separate stories based on episodes from the cartoon. The first story, "The Duck Vinci Code," involves the animals at the Banana Cabana resort attempting to save their friend, Duck, after he acquires psychic powers and is kidnapped. "Horn Swoggled" follows a lounge singer named Narwhal, who finds his singing career crushed after losing his horn. Finally, in "The Sun Howie Always Wanted," Duck builds a second sun when the animals grow sick of the rain, but this causes problems when the real sun returns. The short, slapstick, and silly tales will appeal to new chapter book readers and fans of the show. However, as simply adaptations of previously aired episodes, they do not offer any original storylines. Images from the television series illustrate each chapter. Reviewer: Caitlin Marineau
