I was very disappointed. I pre-ordered this because it said it was over 300 pages. Turns out, I paid $3 for about 45page. This is the kind of in-between story that used to be free. Still love Susan Mallery. I will still buy her books, but this isn't worth is it.

This one is not one of my favorites of this author. I was kind of left with wanting a bit more out of the romance factor. It also started out a bit strange. All in all it did have a "awe how sweet" factor.

What a cute story -- Alistair has come to town to meet his good friend's wife, Simon & Montana, and the town, Fool's Gold, that has made his friend give up his traveling.
Opening scene is funny - Alistair is so sick, standing in front of Simon & Montana's house and not going in because he is contagious and up walks Paige, she's here to do yoga with a 7 mos pregnant Montana. She just takes Alistair home with her to help get through his illness. He is a sick guy!
Wonderful to watch Paige and Alistair get to know each other when he's finally able to carry on a conversation. Alistair has had a rough time, losing his wife and little girl, so he's been doing even more of the doctoring around the world. We learn so much more of Paige and Alistair and how much they care for each other. Alistair falls in love with Paige and Fool's Gold too.
Fun novella to get us ready for our Fool's Gold fix--3 more books in May, June & July! Can't wait

Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. This is a very cute, funny, must read. It was way to short but still enjoyable. The interaction between both Paige and Alistair is so fun to read about. They make the story. You don't need to read this short story to read the others but it would be a same to miss it.

Paige, the heroine of this book, is great. She's a little intimidated that a handsome, well-educated British doctor is staying in her house, so she covers her nervousness with jokes. She is really funny!
I've wanted to read Alistair's story ever since we first met him in Only Yours. He's Simon's friend, who travels from country to country performing surgery because he can't bear to return to the home, where his wife and baby daughter tragically died. In Almost Summer, Paige helps him move on with his life, to find happiness with her.
Susan Mallery is an auto-buy author for me. Consistently funny and emotional, her books are all winners.
