We all have a friend like Liz Prince. We love them to death, but know exactly why they’re still single, but also know their soul mate is out there, it just takes longer to meet them because they have to actually leave the house. Liz Prince’s autobiographical comic short about her uneventful experiences using the dating site, OK Cupid, and how these experiences with the men she meets will result in her being Alone Forever. "Fine, I'll eat a whole one because nobody loves me." Seriously, how hard can it be to find a punk hipster boyfriend? Obviously pretty hard when you have a feeling all of the guys you are interested in are probably already in a relationship. So what’s the next to do? You write comics about your experiences and especially the dates you go on, further pushing yourself out of the dating pool. Quirky and honestly genuine, Liz Prince says everything most refrain from, and does things that are odd because she’s nervous and just being herself in its truest form. Readers will find a piece of themselves throughout her comics, which almost become a home therapy session, without the bill. While a quick read, anyone who has suffered or does suffer in the social department should make this book required reading. Because, you’re not alone. *This book was supplied by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*
Alone Forever is a funny sort of autobiographical graphic novel about Liz Prince and her fails and success in today's dating world. The story is not lineal and it's more like a recount of past experiences, narrations of funny events. However, it works for me. At first I was trying to figure out the plot and then I remember that is not a typical story. This is Liz experience and let me tell you it was relatable for moments. Her comments are smart, honest and awkward. I like the artwork, black and white drawings are sometimes more expressional than colored ones. The capture the story and helps us imagine the world created by Liz. Overall, it is an entertaining book. Not funny all the time but enjoyable. It's has relatable situations and it's fast to read. *** I received a complimentary copy in exchange of an honest review. ***
