Overview

The first time it happened, it seemed like an impossible miracle. Bills were piling up, adding up to more money than I could ever make. Mom's hospital bills. My baby brother's tuition. My tuition. Rent. Electricity. All of it on my shoulders. And I had just lost my job. There was no hope, no money in my account, no work to be found. And then, just when I thought all hope was lost, I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of ten thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.," and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing... except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters.

If you receive a mysterious check, for enough money to erase all your worries, would you cash it?

I did.

The next month, I received another check, again from VRI Incorporated. It too contained a single word: "belong."

A third check, the next month. This time, two words. Four letters. "To me."

The checks kept coming. The notes stopped. Ten thousand dollars, every month. A girl gets used to that, real quick. It let me pay the bills without going into debt. Let me keep my baby brother in school and Mom's hospice care paid for. How do you turn down what seems like free money, when you're desperate? You don't. I didn't.

And then, after a year, there was a knock on my door. A sleek black limousine sat on the curb in front of my house. A driver stood in front of me, and he spoke six words: "It's time to pay your debt."

Would you have gotten in?

I did.

It turns out $120,000 doesn't come free.

I really dont understand all the five stars for this book. I wish i didnt pay $5.99 for it thats for sure. Starting from the time kyrie met valentine til almost the end of this book all it was about was sex. Hot and steamy sex with no story attached at all. And dont get me started on the blindfold chapters, to me that was corny and just dumb. But at the very end of the book the author actually started to tell a story that was alot better than most of the book. Dont get me wrong, i love a book with lots of hot and steamy parts in it for sure. But i also like a book that tells a story not just mind blowing sex.

I just finished ALPHA by Jasinda Wilder and OMW!! I may not recover! You think you know what your getting when you decide to pick up this book, but you get more than you bargained for. We meet Kyrie who is having one of the worst days ever. She loses her job, gets sexually propositioned by her ex-boss, bills are due and piling up, and she gets home to an eviction notice. When she sees an innocent envelope with her name on it she opens it to find a check for ten thousand dollars and in the memo line one word: YOU. Kyrie is shocked and scared as to what to do with this anonymous check.. and come on, no matter what we say if we get that kind of cash in the mail we would be freaked too! After conferring with her best bud Layla she cashes it. Then she cashes the next check for another 10 thousand when it comes the next month with BELONG written on the memo line, And the next months check with TO ME written in the memo line.YOU BELONG TO ME, in real life that would scare the hell out of me but in THIS book it is hot especially after meeting HIM and knowing what is store for her. For the next year she cashes these anonymous checks knowing that some day she will have to pay her benefactor back in some way. 120,000 dollars later it is time and she is collected. Her benefactor is mysterious, uber private, and quite a bit paranoid. He is distrusting of everyone, but he wants Kyrie and has done for a very long time. He brings her to his home in New York, brings her into his world, and slowly lets her slip into his personal life. He is perfection, a giant god of a man, and he wants to make Kyrie beg for him. These scenes are panty scorchers!! He pushes her to the edge of her endurance and his own. With only the sound of his voice to go by she is utterly enthralled, when she sees the whole package she nearly combusts. He makes her crazy with desire and when he touches her she goes up in flames. He has never been with anyone who affects him the way she does and he has never let anyone into his life like he has Kyrie, she has always been special. One look and he is hard as granite, one touch and he could lose his control. Only Kyrie can do this, she will always belong to him. But his secret must come out What happens when the perfect man finds his perfect woman and he must come clean about his past knowing he will most likely lose her? This book was just SO good!! It was erotic yes (honestly it was hot enough I wanted to call the fire dept. to cool me down!), but the hard decisions and the emotional turmoil was the perfect balance. No woman could help read this and wish for a man like this of their own! I say again I am ruined! I don't know if there will be a second book to this or not but if there is I will be buying it!

Reads like a really cheap amd extremely trashy version of Fifty Shades Of Grey. I gave it one star (and that was being generous)---I wish B&N offered refunds.

A horrible mash-up of 'Pretty Woman' & any soap opera ever, this was one of only two books inmy lifetime that I refused to finish. I read a few chapters in the beginning and figured it was a lost cause. Upon reading the 'pivotal' chapter in the middle I knew it was, indeed, a lost cause. Avoid.

Besides there being more than a handful of typos and incorrect grammar, this book has a terrible plot. Poorly thought out and terribly written. The word, p***y, was used possibly 30 times toward the last third of the book. It wasn't in the least bit sexy, but crass and made the dialogue sound awkward and corny. The chracters seemed to be somewhat intelligent and well articulated, but as they went along, their speech dwindled into more cringe worthy, eye-rolling phrases. This really seems like no one edited the novel before it was published.

Liked the concept, really disappointed with the execution of the story. It also used inaccurate references to bdsm.

Felt like a 50 shades rip off

This book started off interesting, but didnt hold my attention enough to make it through the overly discriptive sex scene, or the blaring story inconsistencies. The character curses way to much, I didnt finish the book. To bad there are no refunds..

Zero stars! This author basically took scenes from every BDSM/possessive alpha book around and did cheap unrealistic rehash. Though I shouldn't say cheap because nook book was $5.99. Waste of six bucks!

This book is OK not for me it is all about sex no action and just did not fit the name at all. Alpha has nothing to do with werewolf's like hoped it would it is a false i wish i had not bought it i was very disappointed. and it was a little boring.

When I went to go write this review I was waffling between 3 and 4 stars. I will start by saying that I like to give completely honest reviews that are solely my opinion. I know that a lot of people have liked this book and it has many 5 star reviews and in some aspects it does deserve a 5 star but in my opinion the book as a whole is some what hard to grasp. I know that it's a work of fiction and the author did an amazing job pulling you in, but there were times through out that just had me scratching my head. There are things that the main character Kyrie lets things slide or tries to reason with things told to her that in all honesty wouldn't have been easy to just walk away from or forget about it. The sex scenes where great there were a few times they slide over to the trashy side but all in all the author did good work there. And the big secret that gets revealed is just another one of the things that make it that much harder for me to understand where Kyrie is coming from. I do think you should give this book a chance take a peek you may be some one who thinks it's a great book but I just couldn't get past good.

When the female has a constant potty mouth it ruins her character and the book. Nuff said.

This is pure pornography. I'm embarrassed that Barnes and Noble sells stuff like this. Apparently I cannot give a lower than one-star rating.

Complete waste of time and money!

Far fetched plot but interesting sex scenes.

Story line here is easy to guess and the major potion of the novel is graphic unrealistic sex. The author does take 20 pages at the end of the book to tie up the story that I had already guessed the ending to and just was just more about the sex than the story.

Screenplay for a porn show. Didnt like Roth. Not an alpha just a big D**k

I enjoyed the book, especially the sex. The sex...unbelievably hot. I had to jump my husband about 20 times, lol. However, the story in general left me wanting more. There just wasn't any depth to it at all. Now, if you are looking for a good erotic novel, and don't care about anything else, then go ahead get this, and you'll be happy. Just don't expect anything more from it.

How do I tell you how much I loved this book without giving anything away? There is so much I'd like to tell you, but I can't. This book has so many secrets, and I loved it! "Him" as I'll call the Alpha man who stole my heart, is absolutely wonderful. I want to meet him and make him mine. Holy Hell is he a great lover and so, so sweet. This book is unique and I loved the plot. It's also one of the hottest books I've read in a very long time. I loved everything about this book. The characters were so well written you can't help but love them all, even Harris aka Harry. One of my favorite quotes from the book is, "Hear this, Kyrie: As you learn to trust me, as you give yourself to me, so will I learn to trust you, and give you myself." Don't you just love it? His speech had me enthralled, he is articulate, brilliant, and smooth. That says a lot about the Authors writing. I've read quite a few books by this author, but this one has to be my favorite. I loved every word on every page and didn't want it to end. I give Alpha 5 Stars!!!!!
