Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
As an adult collector of alphabet books, at first this seemed more appropriate for me than a small child learning the alphabet. But on closer evaluation, the small format and the small images seemed just right for little hands and snuggling close to the book to explore the tiny images and even smaller text. Each letter dominates an illustration that features a child with objects beginning with the theme letter. A series of words border the image, most frequently a series that is repeated once. Deciphering the sequencing of the text may be a precursor for the SAT's. The illustrations are sweet and kids from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds will find themselves included. 2000 (orig. 1980), Books of Wonder. Ages 2 to 5. Reviewer: Kristin Harris
