Overview

Following the murder of their legal guardian, two best friends suffer the thing they fear most, separation. Solenum and Calycanthus must each take daring paths to find their way back to one another, and as they do so, they will uncover the secrets their land has been hiding beneath a carefully constructed facade for centuries.

An underground war is taking place, kept hidden from the public eye by those called the Altors and Regius. Although unaware at first of what their involvement brings to the people of Zinc, Calycanthus' close proximity to the Altors allows him to uncover parts of the truth, creating an important turning point that may just be the kick the Altors need to beat the Regius. But it is Solenum who will find the possible key that can lead to a peaceful future.

Is Galax an exception to the rule that says all Regius are cruel? Will Solenum be able to show him that he may just be the example everyone needs in order to end the hidden turmoil? Meanwhile, can Calycanthus figure out the intentions of the mysterious man named Datura?

New friendships are made and love is found as the two best friends work hard on finding their way back to one another throughout a world they'd always lived in, but was a mystery up until now.

    OK, Anonymous on July 22...

I've been reading the reviews on this book after reading it, and I believe the reviee from July 22 leaves very much to be desired. Okay: one. This book was categorized in the TEENS section. If you hadn't noticed already, most teenagers are incredibly profane. I, myself, am not, but as I am a 7th grader, I have experienced this firsthand. Secondly, acceptance is a virtue. If you can't at the LEAST accept that there ARE people out there who are married or share a strong relationship with someone of their own gender, then at least don't hate them for it. It really isn't their fault, and even if it WAS, that is their decision and you must respect them for it. THREE, THIS PERSON HAS ONLY READ TO PAGE 20!!!!! How are they supposed to know that the book is bad or good when they haven't even read a tenth of the book yet?! The part I hate MOST about the review is that they say that BECAUSE anyone is Christian, they should automatically be against gays or lesbians. It is absolute rubbish, and I believe anyone who is considering getting this book should disregard the entry.

    ?

Well the writing of this was well done but the subject matter left some thing to be desired. The reason I give it a 2 is because of the gay romance that takes place through out the book.

Following the murder of their legal guardian, two best friends suffer the thing they fear most, separation.
Solenum and Calycanthus must take the adventurous paths of finding their way back to one another, and
as they do so, they will uncover the secrets their land has been hiding beneath a carefully constructed
     facade for centuries.

An underground war is taking place, kept hidden from the public eye by those called the Altors and Regius.
Although unaware at first of what their involvement brings to the people of Zinc, Calycanthus Esquivel's close
proximity to the Altors allows him to uncover parts of the truth, creating an important turning point that may
just be the kick the Altors need to beat the Regius. But it is Solenum Everhart who will find the possible key
that can lead to a peaceful future. Is Galax Kaminski an exception to the rule that says all Regius are cruel
at the core? Will Solenum be able to show him that he may just be the example everyone needs in order to
     end the hidden turmoil?

While Solenum and Calycanthus change the lives of so many, their new environments force them to grow,
come face to face with danger, death, family connections and just a touch of magic. New friendships are
made and love is found as the two best friends work hard on finding their way back to one another throughout
a world they always lived in, but was a mystery up until now. Watch for the second book in the trilogy, Regius!

Nastasia Peters has delivered a delicious read. This is a classic. One of those 'can't put it down till I'm done' books. I love the intermingling of characters, the fast pace of the intrigue. Thanks Nastasia...I love your book! Please keep up the great work. I look forward to the next one.

I would recommend this for any one that enjoys suspense. Excellent! Fast read, great story line. A mature Peters with depth and complexity from an accomplished writer. One of my favorites.

    Really not good....

This book seemed extremly fun at first, but I found out otherwise. For instince, I was only on page 20 (there are 205 pages) and I already found 5 "the donkey" swear words! Then I find out the kids in the book are gay! Totally a disapointment, as I thought the book was going to be really great. Just goes to show you how bad this world is getting. I'm not going to search for books anymore, you have no idea how many books I've been archiving. Don't get this book, fellow christians (or anyone else, for that matter)!!!!!

I was a little confused with the plot at first, as it was carefully described as a unique world. I was unprepared for everyday things such as high school and lip gloss, but I went in with an open mind and I am very glad for it. I was very impressed by the strong characters and their deep friendship.
A few typos in the Free Nook version, but with some work it will be a five star book.

It turned out to be a very enjoyable read and I look forward to continuing the series.

Let me say that Nas Peters has the ability to draw you in with a unique world and endearing characters who forge strong bonds. One of the things I've always loved about fantasy is the wonder of a world filled with magic and what people chose to do with it. Will someone choose to help or to harm? And so we're presented with an underground war that's being waged between the Altors and the Regius.

Cal and Sol are two friends who play a role in this, especially after the death of their guardian. Their bonds will be tested by conflict and uncovering secrets. I also enjoyed Galax, and how there was more dimension to him (a Regius) that perhaps others thought was not possible.

I don't want to give too much away, but this is definitely a book to pick up!
