Adula Belle Blows Into Town is the delightful whimsical story of the little girl who changes the lives of everyone she meets.
School Library Journal - School Library JournalGr 1-3-One day a little girl named Alula-Belle Button-Top Paintbrush Softshoe Poocheeni Magrew literally blows into the town of KneeBend-on-Limber. She is a combination of Mary Poppins and Pippi Longstocking, with energy like the wind. She is on a mission, sent by her butterfly mother, to cheer up the grouchy townspeople. The beginning of the book shows promise in providing readers with a resilient character bent on turning the negative into the positive. However, as the various episodes progress, the character becomes overdone, her jargon too bouncy and complicated for the intended audience, and her world too "peachy keen." The pen-and-ink drawings look amateurish at best and do nothing to enhance the story. Skip this one.Cheryl Cufari, N. A. Walbran Elementary School, Oriskany, NY
