A Timeless Love

The great Lord Damron is no more than a shadowy, powerful presence in the ruins of Blackthorn Castle. But the compelling gaze of his portrait draws Lydia Hunter to stand before him—and fall through time to become his beloved Lady Brianna.

A Fiery Passion

A tempestuous man with an incendiary nature, whose fury on the battlefield quickly routs his foes, Lord Damron must claim his Scottish kingdom and his bride. But Brianna's heart can be claimed in only one way—her way. And his iron strength is no match for her gentleness...

Praise for Sophia Johnson's Risk Everything:

"Risk Everything has every element of a classic Johanna Lindsey: biting repartee, steamy sexual tension, a bold heroine and powerful hero. Johnson knows how to spin a tale...an accomplished debut."—Romantic Times, 4-star review

As a child living in New York, Lydia Hunter would spend her summers in Scotland where she would visit the ruins of Blackthorn Castle. She particularly found the portrait of eleventh century Lord Damron whom she dubbed ¿Lord Demon¿ quite alluring. Now as an adult following a divorce, Lydia needs a sense of belonging and simple solace. She thinks back to her happiest moments in her life gazing at the portrait and decides to visit for the first time in years hoping to recapture some of her youthful magic.-------------------- At Blackthorn Castle, during a storm Lydia slips and falls unconscious. When she awakens she finds herself inside the body of Lady Brianna, spouse of Lord Demon circa 1072. The king ordered Damron Alasdair to marry Brianna, which he did by proxy without his bride¿s attendance or knowledge. Now he goes to collect his pampered spoiled wife, but finds instead an argumentative feisty female cursing him while challenging his rule over her. Unable to reconcile the spirited independent female with the image of what he was told, Damron learns from a Druid that his wife is not Brianna, but instead the soul of Lydia from the future. In love with her, he will do what it takes to keep his Lydia at his side.------------ The enchantment in Sophia Johnson¿s delightful time travel romance resides in the shocked reactions by the medieval residents of Blackthorn castle to Lydia¿s use of profanity and her overall kick butt fighting spirit. She makes the tale fun to read though her adaptation to the eleventh century occurs too easily. Sub-genre fans will want to read this fine tale of an independent twenty-first century Yankee capturing a medieval Scottish warrior¿s heart.--------------- Harriet Klausner

I only give 5 stars to books that bring out emotions. It has been a very long time since I was stirred so deeply. AWESOME book.

I have read this several times. I loved the whole series. All the charaters are well fleshed out. Lydia, the modern day Brianna, has gone through a messy divorce to a faithless husband. She has always been drawn to the highlands and a picture of Damron. Suddenly she finds herself transported to an earlier time. She finds herself married by proxy to Laird Damron. The story is great, she can't believe that the man who's picture shes so drawn to is such a domineering neanderthal. They definately have their battles. I laughed when he would be offended by her use of words he had never heard . He tried hard to get her to be a submissive and demure wife, to my delight she did not give up her feisty ways for him. Very enjoyable book, great love blooms between these two.

Always Mine is the first book of three in the Blackthorn Castle Series. I’ve read this book four times and know I will read it again and again. Is Lydia Hunter dreaming - is she a reincarnation of Lady Brianna Sinclair, or has she traveled back in time to the eleventh century to her Lord Demon (aka Damron Alasdair Morgan)? There seems to be a little bit of everything in this book – the historical elements, romance, time travel, paranormal - it made me laugh, then it made me cry, but most of all it left me wanting to read more. The sequels - Risk Everything, book 2 and Midnight’s Bride, book 3 - are every bit as good as the first. Read the entire series – you’ll love them and want even more from this author when you are finished.

There is a time-warp thing going on with the heroine that needn't have been part of this book, it would have been fantastic even without it. Still, you'll love this book! It was well written with colorful characters, believable storyline for it's time, intense and heartfelt dialect, interesting site details, conflict, and of course romance and desire! The hero is powerful, handsome, and arrogant - the heroine is beautiful, innocent, and head-strong. I cannot think of one dull moment. Each page that you read keeps you wanting to know more. If I can't put a book down, in my book - it's a 5!
