Always Watching (Elite Guardians Book #1): A Novel 4.7 out of 5 based on 0 ratings. 52 reviews.

Always Watching is the first book in Lynette Eason’s Elite Guardians series, and is also the first book I have ever read by her. I haven’t really had a lot of success when trying out new suspense novels in the past so I was a little unsure when I picked up this novel, but I have to say, I really enjoyed it! Although it took me quite some time to finally find the time to get through it, once I got to the extremely suspenseful ending, it was pretty much smooth sailing to the end. I had a few suspicions as to who the stalker was, but I didn’t know for sure and I absolutely had no idea who his/her accomplice was, so I desperately wanted to get to the end and find out. I have to say, once I did, I was completely floored! Olivia Edwards is such an amazing character! I feel like that is such an empty statement, but there are no words—or none that I am willing to use—that can truly describe how really awesome she is, with all her tough as nails, I’ll protect you at all costs, bodyguard stuff. She’s truly fantastic, but what I really loved was getting to know the heart on the inside behind all her strong exterior. She had such a tumultuous past, full of the type of heartbreak and pain no one should ever have to go through, and it helped me to better understand why she is the way that she is. Wade Savage is an extremely stubborn character! All while Olivia is trying to help him he continually places himself in the path of danger, and though I know it is just because he is a protector at heart, if I was Olivia I would have completely lost my patience with him! Otherwise, he was a completely wonderful and caring man—and I guess that protective instinct just proves my point—and I loved watching him interact with his daughter, Amy. All in all, this is definitely a very interesting story, and the mystery most certainly kept me captivated from page one. Wade’s stalker was a really serious threat, and was an extremely terrible person who committed some very serious crimes! Every time I read a suspense or mystery novel, I am taken aback by how horrible humans can be when they’re taken over by sin, and this book was no exception. I am happy to give this story four out of five bookshelves, for being a very enjoyable read, despite some of the conversation being a little bit surface-y at times (yes, I know that isn’t technically a word). I have to say, the unexpected twists and turns had to be my favorite part about this novel, and I am excited to read more of Lynette’s books in the future! An intricately woven suspense novel! I loved both of the main characters. They are so well developed and the way their personalities are presented layer by layer is amazing. Olivia has a number of tragedies from her childhood and one by one they are shared with Wade. It is very easy to understand how each of them went into defining who she is as a person. Wade is a solid believer and has established himself as a very knowledgeable psychiatrist. Just the type of person to understand Olivia’s past the best and then to help her move beyond the emotions that hold her back. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the calm way that both Wade and his father Bruce turned to prayer at the most frightening times. This is something that all believers should remember to do and yet it can be so hard to accomplish.

ALWAYS WATCHING is a fast paced romantic suspense, the first book in the much anticipated (by this reader) new series by Lynette Eason. I borrowed this book from a friend to read (so was not obligated to review) but I will because I really loved it. Once I picked up ALWAYS WATCHING my attention was completely snared by the plot. Even the opening chapter, written in the "bad guys" point of view grabbed me. I had to keep reading. I was so engaged in the story I forgot to even try to figure out who was behind the attacks until about three-fourths of the way through, then I started having suspicions and trying to work it out. There was a twist I didn't see coming which is all I'll say about that since I don't want to give anything away. If you like romantic suspense, you will love ALWAYS WATCHING. The sexual tension between Wade and Olivia isn't as palpable as in some of Ms. Eason's previous books, but the suspense tension is definitely high as you wonder how Wade's stalker knows him and his schedule so well. A definite twist on who the body guards are, a group of strong female characters who have untold resources and abilities. ALWAYS WATCHING is a great book.

Topping my favorites list for romantic suspense, this book is one of the best modern suspense novels I have read! It was intense and kept me on the edge of my seat, I couldn't put the book down because I simply had to know what was going to happen next. Author Lynette Eason leaves the reader guessing about what will happen next as she takes you through the twists and turns of this insane thriller. It is a race against death, will Olivia and the Elite Guardians be able to stop Wade Savage's stalker before it's too late? Though this book is labeled romantic suspense and that's indeed what it is, it isn't focused solely on Wade and Olivia's romance, it was focused more on surviving the eyes and mind of those always watching. I enjoyed both immensely. The characters were very likeable, especially Wade's daughter Amy, not only was she likeable but she was very relatable since she dealt with anxiety. I appreciate Ms. Eason's effort she put into bringing to life the struggles of her character. This book was my cup of coffee to say the least but I must warn you that if you don't like high suspense with shooting and more, than this book probably isn't for you. However if that's something you enjoy than I highly, highly recommend this book to you! My personal rating five stars! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.

Ms. Eason has delivered a suspenseful book that kept me flippin’ pages late into the night. I found myself shouting out, “I know who done it!” only to find out, I didn’t and it made for fun reading. Always Watching is the first book in the Elite Guardians series. With an introduction to the other guardians in the story, I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Ms. Eason did a great job of presenting how an obsession for something can take reason and common sense, right out the window. Wade Savage’s love for his daughter, Amy and Wade’s father’s love for him clearly demonstrated a strong story of family bonds. The backstory behind Olivia’s quirks took me by surprise as it wasn’t something I’d expected at all. But the characters are woven together wonderfully and I found myself cheering them on and wanting to see justice happen for them. I received Always Watching from Revell Publishers in exchange for my honest opinion which I’ve provided here. https://wordynerdyblog.wordpress.com/2016-book-reviews/always-watching-by-lynette-eason/

Lynette Eason's Elite Guardians Are Off To A Fast-Paced Start! Mrs. Bookworm's Review: Wow! I couldn't put this book down ... Romantic suspense veteran Lynette Eason gives us a fast paced, exciting plot that flips the typical bodyguard/protector trope upside-down. It was a neat twist that Olivia is the "protector" instead of the usual romantic suspense plots of the man having to protect the heroine. However, that didn't make Wade any less masculine or a less attractive love interest. They have great chemistry. The main characters were likeable, honest, hardworking people. I easily connected to them like they were my friends. I felt anxious and fearful for both Olivia and Wade as the mysterious stalker escalates from leaving Wade things to harming others. Several times I thought I knew who the stalker was, but with unforeseen twists, I discovered I was wrong. It'll keep you guessing until the end! Lynette Eason's Elite Guardians series is off to an amazing start! I look forward to reading Without Warning, featuring Olivia's co-worker, Katie Singleton, releasing later this summer. by Andrea Renee Cox When a radio host is being stalked, the women of the Elite Guardians Bodyguard Agency swoop in to protect him and his twelve-year-old daughter. But what if the stalker turns violent... and aims at the protectors? Always Watching is the first book in Lynette Eason's newest series: Elite Guardians. It's fast-paced adventure with memorable characters that face true-to-life issues, including common fears. One fear I especially connected with was the fear of water. It's a difficult one to deal with--and even harder to overcome--but Lynette handled the telling of it with finesse and a good dose of reality. There was a moment or two I almost had a flashback to my own traumatic childhood near-drowning, Lynette's writing on the topic seemed so realistic. As with all Lynette Eason books, faith was woven into the storyline. From my personal experience, I can tell you it takes a lot of faith to believe things will turn out all right when you're scared to death (rational fear or otherwise). Again, Lynette handled this perfectly. She really has a great gift for storytelling. The next few months will seem so long as I anticipate the summer 2016 release of book two in this series, Without Warning. Thank you, Lynette Eason, for including me in your street team and giving me a complimentary copy of Always Watching in exchange for my honest review. *This book contains violence associated with the suspense genre. The danger is closer than they think... Always Watching starts out with a real bang and goes straight on from there. From the dramatic cover to the last page readers are taken on a wild ride of danger and suspense. Lynette Eason has penned a tale that will leave you glancing over your should and reconsidering dark places. One of the overwhelming themes in this book is the importance of family. Wade will do anything to protect his daughter and Bruce does what he has to to protect his son and granddaughter. On the opposite end Olivia hasn't had much of a family since childhood and she continually pushes away anyone who tries to get close to her. I think Amy was probably my favorite character. Her normal teen reactions provide a touch of humor to an otherwise darker storyline. Always Watching is a chilling suspense novel that will keep readers breathless, desperately hoping that the stalker will be caught before it's too late. (I received a copy of this book from Revell in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.)

Always Watching is Book 1 of a new series by Lynette Eason. It's fast paced and suspenseful and a thrilling story to read. From the back cover . . . Intensity. Skill. Tenacity. The bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency have it all. When it becomes clear that popular psychiatrist and radio personality Wade Savage has a stalker, his father secretly hires Elite Guardians to protect his son. But when Wade's bodyguard is attacked and nearly killed, agency owner Olivia Edwards must step in and fill the gap. Olivia's skills are about to be tested to the limit as Wade's stalker moves from leaving innocent gifts at his door to threatening those closest to him--including Olivia. But in her mind, even more dangerous than the threats to her life is the hold her handsome client has on her heart. ENDORSEMENTS "Lynette has written another fast-paced book--lace up your tennis shoes and grab a water bottle. It's a race against death." DiAnn Mills, author of Deadlock "Eason's Always Watching had me 'always reading' until I devoured it. Riveting suspense, complex characters, and a twisty, turning plot kept me up until I finished it at 2 a.m. This is one of the best romantic suspense novels I've read in a long time. Highly recommended!" Colleen Coble, author of The Inn at Ocean's Edgee and the Hope Beach series What I thought . . . Image result for stars for book reviews Super fast paced. The plot was full of twists and turns. Kept me on the edge of my seat. This romantic thriller keeps you guessing at each page turn. I actually thought I knew who the villain was. But I was dead wrong! Eason does a great job of weaving the subtle romance and the challenges the characters face with their faith beliefs. I received a complimentary copy for my honest review.

Lynette Eason in her new book, “Always Watching” Book One in her Elite Guardians series published by Revell takes us into the life of Olivia Edwards. From the Back Cover: Intensity, Skill, Tenacity. The bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency have it all. The bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency have more than just skill and prowess in common–they’re also all women. When it becomes clear that popular psychiatrist and radio personality Wade Savage has a stalker, his father secretly hires Elite Guardians in order to protect his son. But when Wade’s bodyguard is attacked and nearly killed, agency owner Olivia Edwards must step in and fill the gap. Olivia’s skills are about to be tested to the limit as Wade’s stalker moves from leaving innocent gifts at his door to threatening those closest to him. Olivia has the feeling that she’s next on the list. And to complicate things even further, she realizes that her heart may be in as much danger as her client. Ms. Eason knows how to tell a story that keeps you flipping the pages as fast as you can read. There is a stalker targeting Wade. Olivia is a bodyguard hired by Wade’s father. Wade’s stalker is upping the stakes and there are serious questions about whether Olivia will be able to keep Wade and his daughter safe. Just that alone should get your blood pumping but wait there’s more. Once the action gets going it doesn’t seem to stop. There are moments when you get to catch your breath but then we are on the run again. “Always Watching” is a thriller, no doubt about it. Just when you think you might know where the story is heading Ms. Eason tosses in another turn which you take at high-speed on two wheels. Lynette Eason has a new series! If you're looking for a fast-paced, thrill-seeking, spine-tingling, heart-pumping story just pick up one of her books. The exciting part about the new Elite Guardians series is that the main characters are women. Olivia Edwards has put together a team of strong women to make up her private security company. In this first installment we get a peek at each of the members but the story focuses on Olivia herself. The client in this book is radio personality Wade Savage. How's that for a fun new twist . . . a woman guarding a man? About halfway through the book I kind of had an inkling about what was going on but there were still details that I hadn't quite put together. I really liked how Ms. Eason wove in some back story about Olivia to add depth. It not only made this particular book interesting but it also made me anticipate the rest of the series. Speaking of the rest of the series . . . there's a chapter preview for Without Warning, the next book in the series, at the back of the book. If that little snippet is any indication this whole series is going to be a winner. I can't wait to share it with my group of fellow book lovers. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

Radio personality Wade Savage is being stalked, so unbeknownst to him, his father hires the Elite Guardians as bodyguards. But the bodyguard and Wade are attacked, so security is stepped up by owner Olivia Edwards. As Olivia and her team seek to keep Wade and his family safe, the stalker heightens the frequency of incidents, keeping the suspense and mystery going throughout the story. This book grabs your attention in the very first chapter and doesn’t let go until the very end, and you never know when you’ll be slammed with a plot twist-it could be at the end of the chapter, forcing you to turn the page and keep reading, or it could rock your world in the middle of a chapter. I really enjoyed this fast-paced, can’t-put-it-down suspense novel. Always Watching is billed as Romantic Suspense, but one thing I loved about it was that the romance did not get in the way of the story line. Olivia and Wade were attracted to each other from the beginning, but the challenge of keeping him and his family safe, and finding the stalker, took precedence over initiating a romantic relationship. Anyone who enjoys mystery, suspense, or police dramas, men or women, will enjoy this book. This is the first book in the Elite Guardians series, and the first book I’ve read by this author, but I am really looking forward to the rest of the series. I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher, in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

I have said it before and will say it again and again ... I am HUGE Lynette Eason FAN and I absolutely LOVE her books! I love it when she begins a new series and this book is the 1st in her new Elite Guardians series. Always Watching is a fast paced thriller with a little bit if romance! The Elite Bodyguards Agency is an all women agency and Olivia is called into this case after her co-worker was seriously wounded protecting Wade. Unbeknownst to Wade, his father has hired the agency to protect his son from a stalker. Wade knew he was receiving some rather odd gifts that arrived at his home anonymously but he just shrugged it off, making light of the situation. His father however, did not. He saw what was happening and took matters into his own hands. I absolutely LOVED this book because I would think I knew who the stalker was, and then, bam! Lynette threw a curve ball and I had to keep reading to try and figure it out yet again! Don't you just love books that keep you guessing all the way to the end!?!?! Well, if you said YES, then do yourself a favor and pick up, down load, or go check out Always Watching! I promise .... You will LOVE it too!! Thank you Lynette Eason for sharing your gift of writing with those of us who LOVE your books and those who will hopefully read one of your books for the first time! I know without a doubt they will become huge fans just like me and so many others!! Thank you REVELL, a division of Baker Publishing Group, for allowing me this complimentary book in exchange for my honest review! Hands down... A 5 ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥'s!!!

Every time I read a book by one of my favorite authors, I'm always hopeful that the newest book will live up to my expectations. I'm thrilled to say that Always Watching surpassed every expectation that I had for a new book from Lynette Eason. So what did I love so much about the book? 1. A strong female lead. It seems that the majority of suspense fiction features a strong male lead with a damsel in distress who needs rescuing. I certainly enjoy many of those stories, but it was nice to read a story featuring the female lead as the "rescuer." Plus, it added a great dynamic where the male lead needed to be protected but also wanted to do the protecting. Lots of tension there! 2. Intriguing relationships. Because of the tension between the protector and the protectee, it made the development of the relationships very interesting. I also enjoyed meeting Wade's daughter and seeing her struggle through the craziness that unfolded around her. 3. True suspense. At any given time, I had 4-5 suspects. Every time that I thought I knew who the "bad guy" was, I quickly realized I was wrong and began to rethink things. And no one was "cleared" until the very end when the culprit was revealed. 4. Strong faith element. Wade was an excellent witness of true Christian faith. Through conversations and the way he lived his life during extremely trying circumstances, his faith was evident to everyone around him. Overall, I thought this was an amazing book. I honestly thought it was Lynette's best yet and am looking forward to reading the next books in the series!

_______________________________________________ *My Thoughts* I always find it hardest to review suspense because there is just SO much I could give away. So, to successfully describe this book without spoilers, I'll give you an appropriate word. Intense. This book and it's story line is SO intense. Seriously. A females only bodyguard group is just so unique, I know Lynette is going to be extremely successfull with bringing us her best in this series. I was guessing through the entire book who the stalker was and I was cheering when he was brought to justice. I loved Lynette's characters and her writing was superb! I know I'm going to own this whole series once it is complete! A unique series story line, deep characters, and edge of your seat suspense...I won't sleep for weeks! ____________________________________________________ *My overall thoughts* Intense is probably what every suspense writer wants her book to be described as. Always Watching keeps you engaged and guessing from the start! _______________________________________________________ *My Rating* I give Always Watching by Dani Pettrey... 5 stars!! _______________________________________________ *I received this book from the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review, which I have given. All thoughts were my own and I was not compensated in any other way.

Get ready to hold onto your seats ladies and gents! When I saw this book coming out, I thought, "this sounds good, intriguing. I think I'll give it a try!" Now if you know me at all, I don't usually go for these kind of books. Not that they don't sound good, but usually I put them to the side in my "when-I'm-in-the-mood-for-that-kind" pile. This was my first time picking up one of Lynette Eason's book. I AM SO GLAD I DID! From the first page I was, "this is good." But the more I read the more I realized it wasn't simply good, I was HOOKED. What I loved about the book most was it was that the romance element was not it's primary focus. Don't get me wrong, I love a good love story but sometimes mixing romance in an action adventure such as this can come off very cliche! NOT WITH THIS ONE. It has just the right dose of romance without distracting from the plot, the stalker! I shudder thinking about that character. Good grief! This book was well written and kept me turning the pages. And I really loved how Lynette was able to incorporate Christianity into the whole thing too. It was natural, nothing felt pushed or cliche in the least! This novel turned out better than I expected and I CANNOT WAIT to read the next one! (yes, there is another one coming out!!!) I give this book a 5 out of 5! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for this honest and unbiased review as part Revell's blogging for book program.

Always Watching was a great start to Lynette Eason’s newest series entitled Elite Guardians about a group of women bodyguards for hire. From the first pages we are introduced to a very sick and delusional stalker of psychiatrist Wade Savage and popular radio show host. This story starts off at a fast pace and does not really let up through the whole telling. I was really glued to this intense struggle of not knowing who was his stalker and his newest bodyguard, Olivia Edwards, grappled with the task of finding out before anyone else was hurt or killed. With twists a plenty and many suspicious characters, I was not sure who the culprit was or how they would ever catch this psychotic, brazen person. As they work together sparks begin to fly between Olivia and Wade, but before a romance can take place both must deal with their pasts mistakes and hurts. Not only a great action packed novel filled with suspense and a touch of romance, but the cover is striking as well. I look forward to the next in the series. I received a copy for an honest review from Revell Publishing and the opinions are my own.

Two words : GIRL POWER. It is not often in the suspense genre that you find a bodyguard agency operated solely by women (with an occasional employee of the opposite gender). Olivia, Katie, Haley, Maddy – they run the Elite Guardians Agency and they have some serious skills. And courage. But they aren’t the only girls with power in Always Watching. Their client Wade’s daughter Amy is a preteen with some serious anxiety issues. Understandably, her dad being the target of a crazy stalker doesn’t help matters any. Nevertheless, Amy is my favorite character in Always Watching because of her anxiety and because when she’s older she’s totally gonna give Olivia and the other bodyguards at Elite some competition for who’s fiercest under pressure. As someone who knows exactly what Amy was experiencing during one of her panic attacks, I loved when her dad told her that her actions during one particularly (and legitimately) frightening event proved: “That you’re clever and smart and strong and that the panic attacks don’t define you. You’re an overcomer and you’re going to be just fine.” But enough about girl power (although that was one seriously cool aspect of the book). The action in Always Watching began right out of the gate and – as I’ve come to expect when reading a Lynette Eason book – kept me on the edge of my seat for the duration. I really didn’t feel it was wise to trust anyone outside of the Elite agency – I even started growing wary of their law enforcement contacts! I also enjoyed the insights into Olivia’s past as well as into her present insecurities. She may be fierce but she’s not invincible, and she needs Wade as much as he needs her. While Wade needs Olivia to keep him physically safe, she needs him to guard her heart and to guide her soul back to the God who hasn’t taken His eyes off her even when she walked away from Him. Their romance developed throughout the story, mostly from Wade’s point of view, and one kiss in particular made me want to cheer out loud for them! Bottom Line: Lynette Eason’s latest suspense offering is fast-paced, action-packed, and full of grace. Her writing talent is more than evident in the natural dialogue, the tension, the vivid characters. While romance is definitely present in the story, it never overshadows the suspense, making this an ideal choice both for people who do love kissingbooks and those who don’t. The element of faith is there as well – a solid thread that manages to avoid turning “trite” or “preachy”. Lynette Eason is one of my go-to authors for romantic suspense, and Always Watching is a magnificent start to her new series! (I received a copy of this book in exchange for only my honest review.)

I have read a lot of Lynette Eason's books in the past, especially those in series, so I was very excited to hear she had a new series coming out! She did not disappoint. Her new Elite Guardians Series is about an all female Bodyguard Agency. The four friends and co-workers have been part of law enforcement in the past and now have formed a group which is available for hire. They each come with all sorts of abilities and connections that can help in varying situations. I assume each book in the series will focus on one of the four women, and in this case, in "Always Watching," the main character was Olivia. Olivia was a strong female character, who didn't like to show her fears or weaknesses, but she had them. As we got to know Olivia and her history, it was easy to see why she had built up walls around herself. Her not-so-willing client, Wade, tried to break down some of her walls and get to know her. Meanwhile, he and his young daughter were in danger and trying to stay one step ahead of a stalker. I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this first book of the series. All through the story, there were clues and plenty of "red herrings" to keep me guessing. I kept changing my mind about who I thought could be stalking Wade. A woman? A man? Or both? For what reason? I have to say, I did guess some of the things that were coming, and was partially correct in the ending, but I was never quite sure of myself until I finished it. I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I give Always Watching five stars -- I loved it!! The only problem is, I have to wait too long for the second book to be published!

I actually read this book around a month ago, and I still have almost no idea what to say in this review. I keep thinking over it, remembering the story, all of the twists and turns, the characters, the mystery, and I just don’t know where to start . . . . I was captivated from the very first pages and just had to find out “whodunnit.” Lynette definitely kept me on my toes with this one. I kept pausing to reconsider and rearrange my list of suspects and I was so close to being right! I had my suspicions, but hadn’t settled on motive, yet. I loved being kept on the edge of my seat and the continuous guessing (I don’t like knowing the answer from page one). As always, Lynette did an excellent job with the details and descriptions throughout the story. I enjoyed the extra details provided about the police work and investigation, as well as getting a glimpse into the life of a bodyguard. Though this is actually where my only negative comment lies, regarding this book. I found myself actually wanting more details about the characters’ surroundings. I often felt disconnected from the setting, which made getting thoroughly lost in the story a bit of a challenge. It was definitely worth pushing past that pet peeve, though! Olivia and Wade were both interesting characters and I enjoyed getting to know them, as well as everyone else in this new cast of characters. Olivia heads up the Elite Bodyguards and we often see her in a leadership role. I love the strong heroines Lynette so often has starring in her novels. Though she does rely on others for assistance and doesn’t take chances, no one would mistake her for being weak willed. Having a lady in the protective role was definitely a unique twist on the story as well. I so often see the man as the protector in the novels I read, that it was a nice change to see the lady taking the lead. That being said, I did definitely appreciate that Wade never came across as weak, or less than because he needed help. He is actually just as much of a protector as Olivia, just without the gun. I’ve often found that the romantic relationships in Lynette’s books are played down a bit, which always makes complete sense. Who has time for romantic dinners when they’re running for their lives? This remains true in this story, something I continually appreciate. Though there is a bit of romance, it definitely isn’t in the forefront, and therefore, isn’t unrealistic. I also liked how she chose to end the book, with hope for the future, and a moment to laugh. I very much enjoyed the spiritual side of the story and found several lines of wisdom between the covers of this book. Olivia is “on the outs” with God and avoids anything to do with Him. She doesn’t disbelieve, but she doesn’t want a God that allows so many horrible things to happen. I’ve found this to be a subject that I’ve struggled with, as well, and I really appreciated how Lynette handled it. She didn’t offer platitudes or easy answers, but rather gave me things to think about long after I’d turned the last page. Overall, I did truly enjoy this book and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys stories of suspense and intrigue! I received a complimentary copy of this book through the publisher for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.

Olivia and Wade work very well together. It would not be good to have a stalker. Who could the stalker of Wade be? Olivia and her team of Elite Guardians are hired to watch over Wade and his daughter. There are many twists and turns before you see who the stalker is. I received this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion.

This was a very exciting book! There was a lot of tension in the story and a good bit of action and danger. The seriousness of the stalker’s intentions is clear right from the beginning of the story. Wade and his daughter are definitely in danger and it is up to his bodyguard, Olivia, to keep them safe and figure out who is behind the threat. The author did a good job of creating a woman who is capable and strong, as well as determined to do a good job. She is also a woman with some insecurities and a past that haunts her. This helps to make her more approachable to the reader and even to Wade. I think that is part of what draws him to her. There are plenty of possible candidates behind the stalking, and although I actually did correctly guess who was behind Wade’s problems, the author kept enough doubt in my mind to keep it interesting and threw in some good twists. I look forward to reading more in this exciting series. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Baker Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review.

A female-only elite body guard agency is assigned to a high profile radio talk show personality and psychiatrist after it becomes apparent that he has a stalker willing to do anything to get his attention. Wade struggles to sit by while this stalker takes control of his life, terrifying his anxiety ridden daughter, and making him question his every move. With that combo you have a thrill of a read full of intrigue around every corner, a dash of romance, and a struggle to find God in it all. “You have to get to know God on a very intimate level in order to have the kind of faith that will withstand the storms life throws at you. It’s a good thing that we only have to have the amount of a mustard seed. Sometimes that’s about all I can find. You won’t find even that much, though, if you treat him as the enemy or simply a passing acquaintance.” I'm always in the mood for another thrilling read so when I had the chance to pick up this one, I couldn't wait to get started. The author does a fantastic job at pulling the reader in, leaving you questioning who this stalker (or stalkers?) is till the very end. While it seems that there would be an emphasis on the stereotype breaking body guard, I was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't. That is, it wasn't all about how a woman shouldn't be in that line of work because she's weak, just that it was a different experience. Just when you think the stalker has taken it as far as it will go and they can't possibly take it any more extreme, you jump in hopes of saving the characters. However, with all that said, I didn't rate it higher than a 3 star because there were significant points that dragged the rating down. This book is published by a Christian-based publishing group and while I didn't expect or require that the book be apparent in this way, the way that it was used seemed out of place and forced. As if the author went back once the story was finished and added in enough "God talk" to satisfy some standard. A second point which brought my rating down was that there was an emphasis on the male lead character being a psychiatrist and the female lead taking her role as body guard seriously but their interactions seemed so unprofessional, sacrificing it for the romantic intrigue in the story. With a base line rating, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this book but I wouldn't recommend against it either. It was overall an enjoyable and quick read but not one that I'll be keeping on my shelf. This book is most likely best fit for a the casual Christian reader.
