This was one of those short and steamy type of books. We start off with Jon and Shari at the hotel, heading towards their room. We shortly discover that Shari's fiancé has been cheating on her with his ex and that she went on her honeymoon with her best friend, Jon.
Jon has been attracted to Shari for a while now, and has never had the chance to tell her. Shari has relied on Jon for everything, and during this trip has felt her ever-growing attraction to him. They both don't really want to say anything because it would ruin their friendship, but one thing leads to another and badda-bing badda-boom, they have sex.
This story is a short novella (58 pages, according to Amazon), and it satisfies the need to have a quick, hot read. I felt that this story could have been drawn out more and the characters expanded on, but I guess that the point of a novella is to keep it short and sweet. Or in this case, short and steamy.
I definitely recommend this book to someone who's looking for a quickie (hee hee).
Always You is an amazing tale full of passion, love and a friendship that is destined for more. The emotional turmoil that Jon feels over his unrequited love for Shari shines through each written word. Just as brilliantly depicted, Shari’s dilemma as her feelings for her best friend develop gives the reader a feel for this issue as if it were a real situation. Ms. Stivali has written a tale overwhelmingly full of emotions so powerful and potent you find yourself rooting for these two characters. A remarkably wonderful novel, Always You will have you searching for your own best friend just so you can seduce and fall in love like these two characters do. Shari finds out her fiancé is cheating on her right before they're set to walk down the aisle. So what's a girl to do? In this case, leave him at the altar and head to their honeymoon destination with none other than her best friend, who just happens to be a guy named Jon.
The author did a great job plunging us into the action with Shari and Jon as they headed to the hotel room on what should have been her wedding night. Ms. Stivali also did a nice job setting up the sexual tension that comes from their mutual attraction. The fact they initially thought of one another as just friends made the first chapter very hot. Although it had them sleeping in separate beds, the attempts to resist temptation but ultimately not being able to fight it was totally steamy.
Considering this is a short read, the author also explored their characters in depth enough for me to care about these two people. I wondered and anticipated when they would finally admit they both wanted more than friendship.
The dialogue is good with spot on pacing for this length of story. To top it off there's the exotic setting of Aruba with swimming and dining on the beach. Sex scenes are hot when Shari and Jon finally give into the inevitable. Of course by the time you're cheering for Jon, Shari's ex is back in the picture and trying to win her back. I have to admit I did find myself thinking, don't do it, Jon's the guy for you.
If you're looking for a sexy story about friendship turning to love and all taking place on exotic locations, don't miss this one.
