I have two family members who I suspect are in the early stages of Alzheimer's. Not only did this book help me to understand what to look out for, but how to handle different situations. This book discusses causes, risk factors, safety, caregivers, nutrition and more. It even goes into detail about how to cope with behavioral issues family and friend will encounter when dealing with a dementia patient. This is an excellent resource to have on hand for anyone dealing with dementia/Alzheimer's in their family.

This book is a valuable resource to anyone who may be in the difficult journey of caring for someone with Alzheimers. There are so many unknowns and when you realize that you are going to have to care for someone with this horrible disease it is overwhelming and frightening.

This book is a very easy read that will answer many questions that you may come across. While no one knows for sure what will happen, because each case is so different, this books is very helpful in knowing how to handle different situations and if what you are experiencing is "normal." I am so glad I found this lifesaver."

I have a mother who is starting to show signs of dementia and she and I both are becoming very frustrated. This book is extremely helpful & thorough, with such topics in detail as behavior and the best way to deal with it. When should a person stop driving? And many other things to help you understand the process a lot more and to be better prepared to deal with this terrible disease.

Now that the shock from a diagnosis of dementia for my father has gotten a little easier, I went looking for educational information and ran across this little e-book. I'm not sure what I was expecting to find since I am new to this, but the amount of information it gives in all the different areas is very helpful. Right now I am focused on creating a timeline for the disease so we can be prepared as possible during each stage. Although the doctor gave us a general idea of how long until the worst times come, I don't remember much of that conversation. This book gives the different stages from early onset all the way through and the average length of time we have in each stage before he gets worse. While it is a scary disease and we will deal with a lot of suffering, just having the information on what is happening and what comes next makes it a little easier to think about the coming years. On the practical side, it offers many suggestions for safe-proofing the home that we may not have thought of until too late. Very grateful I ran across this book to help manage a very painful time in our lives.

This is a good reference for caring Alzheimer's patients and there are even sections dedicated to the care of the caregiver. There were a lot of good suggestions for caregivers on how to take care of themselves while also taking care of their patient, especially when the patient is related to them, in order to avoid total burn out. The information here could easily be turned into a checklist for all the things you have to remember while dealing with Alzheimer's.
