    True Crime

This book is a well-documented, albeit a short-and-to-the-point synopsis of what happened to Amanda Knox and her friend, Raffaele Sollecito, after Knox' housemate was murdered in 2007. Unlike Candace Dempsey's MURDER IN ITALY, the justifiably award winning, in depth study of the events leading to the crime, the crime itself, and the trials of Rudy Guede, Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito, THE AMANDA KNOX STORY: A MURDER IN PERUGIA, focuses on Amanda Knox, her childhood in Seattle, Washington, her athletic and scholastic achievements, her work ethic, and her short time of freedom in Perugia, Italy, before the murder of Meredith Kercher. It then goes on to examine what happened to her after the crime, the so-called witnesses against her, and the reasoning of the police and prosecutor that brought about a miscarriage of justice.

Produced by the video news magazine, 20/20, This book is a very fair assessment of the facts as they stand. It is written in a journalistic fashion that attempts to be impartial. That said, it has been produced AFTER much of the new appeal testimony has shredded the original "evidence" in the case. The innocence of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito is certainly implied here if not taken for granted.

The most interesting element of this document, is it's multimedia interface. YOU MUST BE USING EITHER AN IPAD, IPHONE OR IPOD TOUCH TO ACCESS THESE FEATURES OF THIS BOOK. There are many elements of video, audio, and graphic files interspersed in the text, several of which have not been posted on the internet. Knox' own testimony in court, interviews with family and friends, views of the crime scene, interviews with the victim's family, etc. There are many of these short films incorporated in this book that bring home the facts in a way that text and still photos never can. This short book may well be the prototype for the future of true crime literature.

    Good Quickie

I say this book is a good quickie because you can read it in like a day. I was interested in the story of Amanda Knox especially after her case was dismissed.
