Meet the Author

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved to write. My first book was a ten-page effort written at age five for my grandmother. Throughout grade school, high school and college I wrote for various school publications. When I was eighteen, my first professionally published piece—a humorous anecdote—appeared in Reader’s Digest. Still, it never occurred to me that I might become a professional writer. I aimed for a career as a lawyer and was actually in law school when I sold my first book. When that happened, the world lost a would-be lawyer and gained a writer. That book, which is still in print, is Island Flame, and it was published when I was twenty-four. Since then, I’ve written over forty books, which regularly appear on the New York Times, USA Today, and Publisher’s Weekly bestseller lists, among others. The mother of three sons, I read, I write, and I chauffeur children. That’s my life.

    EXCITEMENT FROM START TO FINISH!!!!

Set in 1842, England & New Orleans. Very passionae & exciting. You'll not want to put the book down. I must admit I was a little annoyed with Matt, when he believed that Amanda betrayed him. He just kept on and on and on about it. But he soon realizes his mistake. I enjoyed it very much. I wonder if Zeke will get his own story?

Another beautiful love story from Karen Robards.

Ms. Robards just keeps getting better every time. You don't want to pass out on this book. Very interesting characters and plot. I highly recommended.

This is a reissue of an early novel by Karen Robards, and the plot and characters definitely reflect this. The first third of the book was OK, but when the so-called hero forced himself on the heroine, (who, of course, is almost half his age!), that ruined the rest of the book for me. I realize that the book is 30 years old, but even in the eighties, when a woman said "no", and a man forced himself on her, that was still rape!
Just like her first two novels, "Sea Fire" and "Island Flame", this early Robards novel gives a bad name to historical romance fiction!
