Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

In his latest Special Edition outing, Geronimo Stilton isn't worried about global warming; our heroic rodent is too preoccupied with trying to save the Kingdom of Fantasy from the effects of an endless deep freeze. This 320-page, full-color hardcover might be just the trick to wean a youngster's video game from his or her hands. A nice light tone.

From the Publisher

"Lightning pace and full-color design will hook kids in a flash." -- Publishers Weekly
Children's Literature - Heather Welsh
Geronimo the Mouse is back, and this time he is returning to the Kingdom of Fantasy to rescue his friend, Blossom, the Queen of the Fairies. The journey will be long and dangerous, but Geronimo will not have to make it alone. His good friends Strongheart the Giant, the King of the Elves, the Princess of the Silver Dragons, and Puss in Boots are all along for the ride. The story would not be complete without Horizon, the magical flying ship that can talk and navigate itself. Once they reach the Land of Nightmares they meet Cackle, the Queen of the Witches, and Grim the Grouch, who is the King of Nightmares. Will the adventurers be able to rescue Blossom without anyone getting hurt and return her to the Kingdom of the Fairies? The book has excellent illustrations and inserts with character profiles throughout the book. The character profiles help readers keep track of the many characters and how they all relate to each other. This is especially helpful if the reader has not read any of the other books in the series that may have explained who these characters are. The larger font, humorous plot line, and numerous pictures will appeal to reluctant readers. Teachers will find it easy to integrate social studies with the numerous fantasy maps throughout the book. Teachers will also enjoy how the parts of speech are in different colors that often compliment the meaning of the word. For example, the words scorching and hot are in red hues and font that resembles flames. Nouns, adjectives, and verbs are also presented in various colors and fonts. Students who enjoy the "Geronimo Stilton" series may also like the "Thea Stilton" series, which chronicles Geronimo's sister's adventures. Reviewer: Heather Welsh

Not great for Nook color format

My child loves Geronimo Stilton books & we were excited to see them finally available for Nook. Please leave these to old-school style books until the format is improved. The pages are tiny on the Nook color & often split-up to multiple screens- no fun for a kid. We will buy hardcover/paperback Geronimo's, but no more on Nook until improved format.

It was good but not so great...

This book is a very interesting book to read and enjoy, but the problem is that the pages are small and you have to zoom in to read single pages. I would really like it if it had a full page with hd quality.
