Saturday Review
“Amelia Bedelia, the new maid, slightly suggests the famous Mary Poppins, but she makes her entry discreetly through the doorway, on her two feet, instead of blowing in on the wind. Thisis purely a ‘silly’ book, with no lesson to impart, but it will seem hilarious to young children.”
Horn Book Magazine
“The younger children for whom this nonsense makes a good read-aloud, and those older who will find it easy to read, will giggle through its series of jokes.”

K-Grade 3

The hilarious antics of a housekeeper whose literal interpretations of her list of chores lead to some extremely funny messes. The translator maintains the humor and the plays on words found in the original English text, thus making this Spanish rendition free flowing and amusing. It is worth mentioning that the simple narrative is accessible to beginning readers. The brightly colored cartoon artwork is integral to the presentation, as many of the jokes are played out in the pictures. Fun fare.

    Great for beginning readers.

A retired teacher, I always found that my students, including reluctant readers, loved all the Amelia Bedelia books. It is now joy to buy them for my grandchildren.

a MUST READ --- GREAT BOOK!

This book is hilarious, and the kids (adults too) love it! It shows how Amelia Bedelia takes everything "literal" and totally misunderstands all that she is to do in her new house cleaning job, thus making a total mess or wreck of things. She talks to herself all the while she'd reading her "to do list" and lets the reader know that she just doesn't understand why they are asking her to do such things, since she's understanding them totally wrong!

    Amelia Bedelia always charms

It's one of the books my 3-yr-old grandchild always picks from the pile, for me to read. She gets the humor of misunderstood instructions and sees the good-heartedness.
That's what it's really about. And that's all it needs.

    Favorite Book Ever

When I was 4 or 5, The Amelia Bedelia books were my favorite. I read them all the time and I had almost all of them. Now I'm 15 and am writing a research paper on Peggy Parish, and her love for Children. These are great books and I recommend them to everyone.

Great read for children of all ages.

I read this book to my five year old daughter and the two of us were giggling so much that we had tears. We tried to anticipate what Amelia would do next and turned it into a game. What a delight!!!
