Children's Literature - Carrie Hane HungGo on a roaming, road trip with a favorite young girl, Amelia Bedelia, who returns with a new and hilarious adventure in the third book from the "Amelia Bedelia Chapter Books" series. Some readers may be familiar with the idiom-and homophone-confused maid character in the early "Amelia Bedelia" series written by Peggy Parish. Herman Parish (Peggy Parish's nephew), continues with the word play and writes the series about Amelia Bedelia's childhood antics. In the Amelia Bedelia Road Trip, the family takes a vacation without a predetermined destination. They ride on some rough terrain, crash a parade, and stay at a cabin on Lake Largemouth. At the lake, Amelia Bedelia meets a friend and they enter a fishing contest. During the trip, Amelia keeps a journal; the entries are a part of the illustrations in the book. At the back of the book, readers will find a list of idioms used in the story along with another way to express the idea. In addition, there's a short excerpt from the forthcoming book. Fans of Amelia Bedelia stories will be glad that the adventure continues. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
