Food For Thought

I would dearly love to see this book as part of a U.S. History class & at every level of schooling. The things not covered in our history books when Mr. Ventura was in school & when I came along (about 13 years later) scare me. We deserve to know all the facts of American history, not just what has been edited for public consumption. Whether you agree or disagree with any of the points in this book, it is definitely wekll worth reading and considering.

A much needed book

This isn't the book that will definitively prove that the Kennedy assassination was an inside job or that the government knew about 9/11 beforehand and did nothing. This is a 200 page book covering 14 fairly varied conspiracies, it will make you curious, but leave you to find out more. What makes this book important is that it fully addresses the darker side of our history, specifically our recent history. The last chapter is especially frightening as it shows how the groundwork has been laid in recent years for an authoritarian state that is slowly creeping up on us. This is a book everyone should read, not so much for the conspiracy theories but to get a good perspective about our government and our history. Sure most of the theories proposed in the book are probably just that - theories - but it sure is a lot of coincidence. It is important for us to understand what is happening and what has happened in our country and this book sheds some light on that.

Ventura is both easy and frightening to read and is a welcome independent voice in a debate where it seems like everyone is always trying to fight for their own side by blaming the other, and, no matter how crazy some of the writing is at points in the book, the man was an elected governor so there is quite a weight behind all these accusations.

Buy and read this book, it is a necessary addition to our history!

We Are Corrupted!

I just finished reading this book and I now realize what I always expected. Which is our Government is corrupt. A very informative book. With all his charges against the Government, he has the proof. This book even lists plenty of other books where you can confirm what he is saying. You learn one of the Government's tricks to silence someone who is willing to testify is a so-called plane accident, which seems to happen often. It's also shocking how they control what the media tells us and what certain magazines put out. The lengths they will go through to cover something up is just downright insane. I never trusted them to begin with, now even more so. With all the hard evidence out there to convict people in various historical asassinations and yet no or false charges. With such obvious cover-ups and blatant disregard for us loyal people, I'm ashamed to be an American. This book shows you it really is all about the money. Instead of the Government running the Government, rich Corporate Heads possibly make the rules. Great read. Jesse Ventura tells a very interesting, detail oriented, hard-hitting story. That will leave you wondering.

Captivating reading in a covert manner...........aka NSA/CIA/FBI!!

Most reviewers haven't mentioned Jesse's recent TruTV channel series, "Conspiracy Theories". In that he disects some topics covered in this book, only adding further mystic into the equation. However, the book coverage overviews and details to a greater degree more common historical events. Much has been covered in other publications surrounding conspiracy claims, but Jesse and Dick Russell lead the reader into some intriguing paths. A few select topics could have also been included, e.g. Chemtrails, HAARP, underground government 'cities' and others. But the wealth of knowledge provided in this book offers a significant amount of covert material. It's a truly entertaining read.

Jesse Ventura's Conspiracies

For the most part, Jesse lays it on the line without embellishment. These are the known historical facts. Those who say they "thought there was something to" the JFK conspiracy never did the research. Look up Lansdale, Bush, Brading, Milteer, Oswald and Gary Powers, Jagger Chiles Stovall, etc. Silly how the debunkers talk about three or four shots when at least 15 were fired.

Jesse gives plenty of examples of malfeasance, and very logical motives for those actions. But the debunkers ask us to believe that the governments of the U.S., who burnt down half of the South in 1865, gassed the Kurds in WW1, burnt to death millions of people in Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Fallujah, etc. etc., would not dare kill one guy, because he was the President. See how silly that is?

Jesse Ventura's Less Traversed Road

Jesse Ventura traverses a road less traveled in this well articulated read embracing the powers at be and the possible corporate agenda that seems to be interwoven with political entities resulting in the subsequent erosion of American civil liberties. Mr. Ventura steps outside the box and examines the cataclysmic events of the the Great Depression, the Guyana tragedy, 911, the Kennedy assassinations, etc., and puts them all in perspective and unravels what appears to be the shocking motives of the affluently elite.
Well researched and written, Jesse Ventura and Dick Russell boldly go where most would fear to tread in this book of information that you can only hope is apocryphal, but as you read on you'll fear is plausible.

Makes you think and wonder about the media and our government

I remember my Uncle saying "as long as TV programs are not changed the citizenry will be satisfied and happy. Makes me wonder about the "silent majority"! Jessie, has the courage to speak up, probably because he was a Navy Seal. The points he raises are interesting and plausible and the book is on the NY best seller list with no major reviews. Not even on Book TV! What is the media afraid of, some "work" to prove him wrong?

I enjoyed the book; there are questions to major events in our times!

Jesse Ventura's new book makes you rethink how our government operates

Jesse Ventura and his co-author Dick Russell have covered the waterfront in exploring in some depth several conspiracies that have actually happened in America. In fact, they cite considerable evidence indicating that when profound horrific things happen in American life, such as assassinations and mass murder, it would be wise to look beyond the lone crazed killer and beyond a small group of extremists whom the media accuse, to a group or groups of people in positions of power in our society and in government. For the latter have an agenda and it turns that they or whom they represent are the ones with something to gain as a result of the treacherous acts. The book is written in simple straight forward prose and is well documented. One can infer from the book that conspiracies are more the rule than the exception in American political life.

American Conspiracies: Interesting read but hard to follow at times

As an X-Phile and someone who has always been intrigued by conspiracy theories, I was looking forward to reading this book and wasn't disappointed (though I also wasn't blown away). Jesse Ventura, along with co-writer Dick Russell, explores history-changing events, from the assassination of Abraham Lincoln to the Wall Street scandal. Each chapter delves into one of these events, outlining facts that point to government and/or CIA involvement, effectively contradicting what America was (and still is) told by the media and government itself. The theories are backed up by numerous sources and definitely give me pause. Some of these scenarios I've already heard, but others are complete eye-openers.

I'll admit I was wary when I found out who wrote the book, and that is my one sticking point. Though I'm sure the sources are credible, the tone of the writing is almost too conversational and argumentative, and it undermines the seriousness of the book. I'm not a fan of exclamation points, and this book has enough of them to cover the entire library. I'm also not sure about the little blurbs at the end of each chapter; they almost remind me of high school textbooks. I see what Ventura is trying to accomplish here, but we're not morons who need to be told what to do.

Overall, the concepts are great but the writing made it hard for me to follow at times. It's a must-read for anyone who has ever been even somewhat suspicious of the stories we've been fed over the years, if you can get past the sophomoric writing. As Fox Mulder would say: The truth is out there.

Informative and provocative

Makes for enjoyable reading. It makes you think of all that is happening now and you can really relate it to what has happened in the past. I would recommend this book. Very educating.

Conspiracies

For their part, it looks like Jesse Ventura and Dick Russell did a lot of research for this book. There are a lot of verifiable facts to each chapter. And each chapter could very well be a book of it's own. Mr.Ventura makes an excellent case for most of the topics covered. I just wish the book had come out with a little more detail. There was so much information left uncovered.

Jesse Ventura isn't afraid to tell it like it is. He has strong beliefs about the Assination of Presidents, from Lincoln to Kenedy, the coruption of 911, and Wall Street, plus much more. I'm totally involved in the book and I will keep it in my library as a reference book. Great Read if you want to hear the other side of the story.

Found this book to be informative.Some stuff in it i already knew..he maybe needed to go further into some subjects,but that's probably for another book...makes you take notice and for some people think for the 1st time in their lives.

Interesting and quick read of possible conspiracies of American government involvement from Assassination of Abraham Lincoln to 2009 Wall Street Crisis including possibility of losing American democratic system.

This book was better than I expected. Since I'm neither a history buff nor a non-fiction reader, I wasn't sure about reading it. I found it easy to read and wanted to get back to it when it was necessary to set it aside. It did not make me paranoid about government involvement even though the many instances of this possibility are apparent. The chapters were concise, clear and well written.

I'm not going to be joining any truth seeking ventures after reading the book however I have had a healthy skepticism which this book enforced. I plan on lending my copy to a friend or two to be able to discuss this skepticism.

Scarier than any horror story I've ever read...

Jesse Ventura, a man that I grew up admiring in the World Wrestling Federation because of his intelligence, caustic wit, and remarkable color commentating abilities, astounded me with this cautionary book about some of the real "heels" in this wonderful country; some are "the smiling faces on our TV", to paraphrase Living Colour's "Cult of Personality", some are behind the scenes. But this is not a wrestling biography, this is a mixture of tales; frightening, darkened tales that this true patriot shined a light of scrutiny on to (at his own potential personal risk) draw out the truth, however unnerving or controversial.

Although predominately known for being a former wrestler and TV personality, Jesse was also a former Navy SEAL, bodybuilder, game show host, and, most impressively, mayor of Minnesota (which he won on an independant ticket, which is unheard of in this two-party country). He is also, in this reader's eyes anyway, a ballsy human being who will tell you what he believes even if you hold a gun to his head and attempt to force him to recant. So, it should come as no surprise that he wrote American Conspiracies, discussing topics ranging from stolen elections, to the assassinations of JFK, RFK, Malcolm X, to what the media (and the government) failed (read; concealed) to tell us about 9/11.
But what makes this such a compelling read is not just a guy force-feeding spooky stories about things that the people that we put our tax money and faith in to to keep us safe. Jesse rationally states what we were told to believe, then provides us with real, documented quotes, extensive research, testimonies, and other assorted facts that will make any open-minded, rational person look a little deeper into what is seemingly an abyss, but what is, in reality, a terrifying truth. Jesse does, at times, offer his own opinion, but unlike guys like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Michael Moore, never comes off as ham-fisted or condescending. He is just looking to open eyes.
I first saw The Exorcist whenI was a child, and thought that it was extremely terrifying. I still do, but this is scary on a whole other level.
So, in summation, I recomend this book to any one that is willing to cast a critical eye around. Remember, true patriotism, like any other form of love, requires criticism from time to time.

Rough but entertaining

Ventura is bold and decisive as he goes after sacred cows in this page-turner, which is a little too conversational and rough-hewn at times for its own good. Still it's a fantastic, energetic read and well worth buying for conspiracy nuts.

Jesse has guts like no other! He approached me about being a jud

Jesse has guts like no other! He approached me about being a judge on the tv show "Grudge Match" at Universal studios Hollywood many years ago. I was shy and turned it down and have regretted it ever since. I was wearing my World Gym tshirt. He impressed me as a genuine guy and i like him a lot., He takes on conspiracies like no one else and i applaud his courage. Lots of interesting stuff here!
