Overview

Maybe best known for her hit songs "Queen of Hearts" and "Angel of the Morning," Juice Newton has done plenty of other tunes over the years worth recalling. Her music has won her a long list of platinum and gold albums, top hits, and awards. In the '70s, when there was for the most part a pretty defined line between country and rock, Newton marched over that line with success, mixing the best of both and winning fans from each side long before singers like Chely Wright, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, or the Dixie Chicks showed up on the scene with their own crossover hits. On this album, American Girl, Juice Newton steps out with some new material for the first time in a number of years. She wrote "Nightime Without You," but many of the additional songs were recorded by other artists first, like Tom Petty's "Keeping Me Alive," Nanci Griffith's "Listen to the Radio," and Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." Newton's husky voice puts an original touch to each tune, sure to please both new and old fans. An album worth having.
