American Grit: What It Will Take to Survive and Win in the 21st Century

Overview

Americans need to toughen up, personally, culturally, and as a national fighting force, if we are to survive the unprecedented threat from Islamist assault, says New York Times best-selling author Tony Blankley. His compelling, three-pronged plan to strengthen the U.S. includes: a universal military draft to instill a unity of toughness and cultural purpose; a plan for energy independence and to expand our diplomatic and economic options around the world; and a program for communicating Western moral values and ...

Overview

Americans need to toughen up, personally, culturally, and as a national fighting force, if we are to survive the unprecedented threat from Islamist assault, says New York Times best-selling author Tony Blankley. His compelling, three-pronged plan to strengthen the U.S. includes: a universal military draft to instill a unity of toughness and cultural purpose; a plan for energy independence and to expand our diplomatic and economic options around the world; and a program for communicating Western moral values and the American spirit of self-determination to people living under oppressive regimes, as well as to voters here at home. These are the key components that have led to America's success in previous wars, Blankley argues, and they must be "rediscovered" today, for our nation's very survival depends on it.

What People Are Saying

Michael Barone
"Tony Blankley has long been one of America's most trenchant conservative commentators and thinkers. In American Grit, he provides conservatives--and Americans generally--his wise thoughts on where we should be going in the future."--(Michael Barone, U.S. News & World Report senior writer and American Enterprise Institute resident fellow)
Andrew C. McCarthy
"Egged on by new leaders promising the same discredited liberal statism that fails time and again, too many Americans line up at the trough, asking what their country can do for them. In a searing ode to America's greatness, Tony Blankley reminds us that the real question is what we can do for our country. American Grit is a clarion call to a new nationalism: a fearless summons exhorting citizens to elevate love of country over love of self. That prescription, and no other, will ensure that our union remains an unparalleled beacon of freedom, tough enough to face down the tyrannical designs of radical Islam and strong enough to rebuild the economic prosperity that enables America to lead a troubled world."--(Andrew C. McCarthy, National Review Legal-Affairs Editor and author of the national bestseller, Willful Blindness: A Memoir of the Jihad)
Thomas G. McInerney
"Tony Blankley brilliantly lays out a spot-on list of the dire challenges that threaten America's future. From our short-handed military to our energy dependence on foreign adversaries, from destructive educational dogmas to the media's propensity for revealing classified information--we ignore these problems at our peril. Tony presents us with solutions. A must read!"--(Lieutenant General Thomas G. McInerney (Ret.), former assistant vice chief of staff, U.S. Air Force)

    GRIT - look it up!

Naturally, the points made by Mr. Blankley will ruffle liberal feathers. An outcome of 'old values' (that made America the strongest free nation in the world back-in-the-day) is that liberals now have the freedom to fearlessly speak publicly. The definition of GRIT may not be familiar to post WWII second generation offspring who now benefit from their grandparent's sacrifices. Walk-the-walk, that Mr. Blankley describes, for a decade or two. THEN, maybe, the head-knowledge will become wisdom, which we all need more of right now!!

    Excellent read

These are dangerous days for America. We face enormous challenges at home and gathering threats from abroad - and just when the situation requires us to return to the proven traditions of our history, Obama and the Liberal Democrats are moving us in the opposite direction, pushing the wrong values and policies. In American Grit, author Tonly Blankey sketches out a program to get us through the next four tough years - and to revive the traditions and institutions that made this country great.

Blankley argues that we must not focus on what is best for any political ideology. He argues that if we are to survive the threat of radical Muslim Terrorists, just as the America-hating Left chips away at our national resolve more energetically then ever, we need to ask what needs to be done to protect and strengthen our nation. And the first thing we need to do is toughen up - personally, culturally, and as a national fighting force. And that has always been one of the focal points of Conservatism.

Blankley lays out a comprehensive program of policies that we must adopt: Strengthen the military, increase energy independence, wartime measures regarding the law, civil liberties, foreign policies, a global communications strategy, and a reformed education curriculum, to guarantee America¿s prosperity, and our individual freedoms.

Measures such as these were the key to America's success from its beginnings, such as in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, WW I and II, and they must never be forgotten, and in American Grit, Blankley sets out a series of persuasive arguments showing why they must be rediscovered today. The far-Left Liberals will howl, and the more they do the more we Conservatives know we are on the right track. America's grit is nothing short of essential: our nation's very future depends on it.

one of the best and most accurate accounts of the terrorist conspiracy

An analytical and perceptive political treatsie on present day worl poblems.

Carefully and accurately researched and referenced, a book all Americans
    should read.

Not since Walter Lippmann commented on world affairs has a writer so cogently analized the world situation.

The 1 star reviewer lacks the very GRIT this book refers to. They call this book propaganda, because if the Government wanted them to have GRIT, Obama would have told them by now. Good and evil is something Hollywood invented, but the crease in Obamas pants is something they can see and trust. Bible clingers must be racist or they would cling to Obamas' leg and beg for a GRIT voucher. lol Liberalism suffers from a form of moral atrophy, which manifests itself in the inability to distinguish between good and evil ~YURI OKUNEV

    Typical Republican propaganda.

Blankley should be ashamed to say he has a real plan for America's future. This should not be passed off as literature. However, Mr. Blankley has chosen the perfect format to publically announce his inability to fully understand the issues facing America or to formulate any real plan to overcome its struggles.
