Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Based on the American Lung Association's smoking cessation program, this book coaches smokers through discovering their own personal motivations and obstacles to quitting, planning effective strategies to meet and conquer the temptation to pick up a cigarette, and tailoring a cessation program to individual lifestyles. An ex-smoker himself, Fisher explains the physical and psychological "rewards" that nicotine provides the body and includes tools for understanding smoking triggers, developing distraction mechanisms, and planning cessation techniques. He also discusses the body's recovery process in clearing the addictive effects of nicotine and what to do in case of relapse. "Quick Quit Tips" summarize key points and highlight each section. Similar in scope to Simon Bryant's Know Smoking (Middle Way, 1997), Fisher's volume includes more exercises and fewer metaphors. A positive book that gives solid, realistic information; highly recommended for all health collections.Janet M. Schneider, James A. Haley Veterans Hosp., Tampa, FL

    Absolutely wonderful book.

I tried to quit 5 times before buying this book. Reading this book really gave me insight to my addiction and helped me to finally break the nasty habit. This book is very interesting and also has wonderful tips. I could not have quit without the use of this book.
