Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal

Gr 5-8 - These accessible guides are nearly identical in the treatment of several subjects, such as healthy eating, exercise, and skin care, and the chapters on feelings, relationships, and sex. The information is presented in a straightforward manner without judgment, which may be comforting to preteens who are finding the road to adulthood a somewhat frightening path. The focus is on physical changes and some of the accompanying feelings. Sexual activity is mentioned, but readers are encouraged to wait until they are older, and contraception is not discussed in detail. Good, sound primers.-Elaine Baran Black, Gwinnett County Public Library, Lawrenceville, GA

I think it would help a lot of girls who don't know what to do to becoming a teen. I used it and thought it was pretty good. So, whenever all you girls get this book, read it. It is a great reference.

I am 11 years old and this is my review. I am kind of skeptical about this book. It says in the editorial review that it talks about sexual content. If this is a book for preteens, it should not talk about sex. What if the sample is just a mild version of the real book. That is really scary. What if it has pictures, racy pictures because it is a book about that sort of. I do not think that people or children for that matter should read this book. I give it five stars. This is a professional review.

Personally I don't care for this book. If you are a Christian parent please don't buy it. If you want your daughter to know about masturbation and sex then this book is for you.

I have not read this book yet but have been looking for books like this to buy for my niece and possibly for my daughter when she is old enough. I feel these books are good for girls to read so they can learn about their bodies and how to deal with these things. I can understand some of the information may be a little "R Rated" for some. But I also feel some need to understand the importance of the information within the book. I myself feel it is important to talk about sex to teens and preteens because weather parents like it or not, your children grow up and at some point become interested in it. I don't see why the human body and sharing important information has become so taboo in society to where you can't talk about this important information. As parents it is our job to teach our children to live on their own and not live with us forever. They grow up and become adults, they don't stay children forever. Sorry my comment wasn't much about the book, but I do believe the book would be a valuable item to have. If it also teaches about sex protection then that is highly valuable information because it helps protect you from sexually transmitted infections. An if a kid doesn't want a book just talk to your doctor and they could get you information on it. I've said my peace, hope it helped.

Gingergirl330,I have a question. I need bras and I ask my mom and she says to wear the hand-me-downs we get from girls at church! I am 12 and I am half the size of the normal girl. I am also very petite ( you may think ,oh she is just a little smaller than normal, but if you think that you are wrong. My mom can put her hands together, middle finger to middlefinger, thumb to thumb around the bigest part of my torso!) Now I can't ask her to also because she just had a baby. I need help! Please put #573 so i knpw its for me
