A perfect gift for someone who loves America and God

This book is a combination of a New King James Bible (and all the helps that come with it) and a history of the United States, looking through the lens of Christianity. It is large, hard-cover, and has very readable print.

I am reviewing this book for Thomas Nelson publishers and I give it 5 stars (the best rating). This Bible is perfect for those who want to study the Bible alongside of American history.

The preface includes a family records section, map of the US including dates of each state's induction, an area to fill in Military and Public service, and family deaths. It includes a well-written Call to Action. Thee are lots of full-color inserts containing articles on themes such as:

    Christianity in Colonial America
    Faith of our Founders
    American Revolution
    The Great Awakening
    Christianity in American Education
    Civil War
    Monuments to American Patriotism
    World War II
    Equal Rights
    Famous Christian Americans

This Bible will make a wonderful gift for anyone who is patriotic. There is no mistaking the Christian roots upon which our country was founded.

    blatant patriolatry

The American Patriot's Bible (New King James Version) is Thomas Nelson's latest venture into the world of thematic study Bibles. It has a minimal set of maps, a good concordance, a brief introduction for each book of the Bible, and a large number of essays and reflections purportedly connecting the Bible and American history.

From a purely physical book-making standpoint, this is a nice Bible. It has thicker than average paper for a study Bible, a decently large typeface and it looks like a durable book. It's really too bad that such a nicely designed Bible wasn't matched with quality of content: as a Christian study Bible, it fails on both counts.

First off, aside from the "patriot's" material, there are virtually no study elements at all. No biblical cross-references. No footnotes aside from the NKJV's translators' notes. No charts or timelines. A shameful dearth of maps. The introductions to each book give considerably less historical and theological context for the book than the equivalent Wikipedia articles.

Secondly, it fails to be Christian. Michael Horton would call it Christless. You want a Bible for Moralistic Therapeutic Deism? Legalism? This is it. Its essays emphasize such traditional American values as hard work and our accountability to God. There is plenty to encourage the idea that what God wants from us is to work harder. There is nothing here for the broken, repentant sinner, aware of his own inadequacy, whose desperate hope is to fall at the foot of the cross and find grace.

What then of the patriotic elements? The glowing biographies of people honoring God for their American success, the vaguely spiritual, inspirational quotes scattered throughout, the multiple glossy inserts attempting to sketch out all of American history and tie it to the Biblical narrative? All I can say is that I found it all as dubious in its history as its theology. This flag-waving, Chicken-Soup-for-the-Soul-ish pass at a study Bible is best left on the shelf at the Christian bookstore.

This Bible was given to me as a present. From the very minute I opened the bible I had a very hard time putting it down. I had to read the history portions and then look of how it worked with todays day and time.

I have read the Bible and how our forfathers applied the Bible to the start of our country. We need our leaders to get this Bible and hopefully they will see how it really works. As of today I have shown this Bible to about 20 people and we have sent friends and family this Bible. I have shown vendors and coworkers the Bible, many have bought it and have given it to other firends and family. This Bible is not only a eye oppener but a reminder of how God has played in our countrys life.
I would reconmend it to everyone that you come in contact with.

A Patriot's guide to American history!

President Barack Obama recently said: "We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values." Yet from 1776 to 1956, all fifty states, either in the Preamble to their state Constitution or their own Bill of Rights, unashamedly affirmed a belief in God and a dependence on Divine Providence.

The American Patriots Bible documents our Judeo-Christian heritage and our founders' reverence for Almighty God. It settles the question once and for all regarding our forefathers' dependence upon Him as they went about their work framing our government and ensuring our civil, political and religious liberties.

Today, in the face of so many challenges to our way of life from within and without, this book offers the modern-day American Patriot the opportunity to learn the truth about our past and perhaps rethink how we consider ourselves.

Hopefully, in the process, many will reaffirm the simple beliefs of our forefathers, so that as a nation, we can enjoy a continuance of the freedoms granted us by God, outlined in our Constitution and preserved by our heroes on the battlefields of the world.

    This book is a treasure!!

In a nation that has stopped teaching especially the spiritual background of the countries' founders, this Bible brings us closer to them, to our history and to our God. It's a beautiful book and a real treasure to use for inspiration and education. Every school child should have one, as well as every houseshold!!

    The American Patriot's Bible

The American Patriot's Bible (NKJV, hardback edition) published by Thomas Nelson and edited by Dr. Richard G. Lee, is a must-have study Bible for all historical enthusiasts or for anyone who might have an interest in the spiritual connection between our founding fathers and the establishment of the United States of America. For the individual who enjoys a unique correlation between the past and present, this Bible is an interesting resource.

The American Patriot's Bible provides 48 full-color supplementary inserts with information on past and current historical figures, as well as 254 historical articles tied into scripture throughout the text. While American History is highlighted, the important Biblical History does not take a back seat. All 66 books of the Bible include informative introductions.

Typesetting for The American Patriot's Bible is in large print, making the text easy to read. While this Bible comes with a colorful book jacket, the dark blue cover with white lettering makes it a nice addition to any home or church library. This Bible weighs about five pounds and is not bulky.

Birth, marriage, death and military service pages are included in the front of The American Patriot's Bible as well a map of the United States, a list of the dates our Fifty States were admitted to the United States, and additional pages for important notes. In the back of The American Patriot's Bible, there are maps of the Middle East, noting details such as the geographical division of the Twelve Tribes of Israel and the missionary journeys of the Apostle Paul.

While The American Patriot's Bible may not be the most in-depth study Bible available, it is a good choice as a gift Bible which can certainly be used for study. The American Patriot's Bible includes important scriptural cross-referencing notations, references to other works such as the Septuagint and Vulgate, an index, and a concordance, each adding to its value as a study Bible.

Some of the American history reference ties to scripture seem like a stretch, but The American Patriot's Bible is nothing short of educational. Though I hold a Bachelors Degree in History, I still gained significant, new knowledge about the founders of America. I especially enjoyed noting the scriptures on which the United States Presidents chose to lay their hands when taking the oath of office.

While God's Word stands alone in its meaning for us today, The American Patriot's Bible provides another type of history that allows the scholar see how important God's Word was and is to those who have had a significant role in shaping our country.

The biggest challenge I have found when reading The American Patriot's Bible is getting distracted by all the secular information when I should be reading the scripture. This however is just one factor that compels me to spend more time studying God's Word. The American Patriot's Bible has my hearty recommendation and is worth the retail price tag.

American history interlaced with the Scriptures

    The Patriot's Bible

What an amazing and most interesting concept for a Bible. For publication and classification purposes it is called a "study" Bible, but for practical purposes it is a most unique representation of American history.
Throughout the volume you find statements such as the one located in 2 Chronicles 1:10, "William McKinley, placed his hand on 2 Chronicles 2:10 as he took the presidential oath of office in 1897."
The introductions to each of the books of the Bible give examples of how that particular book made it's impact on America, whether that be in the framing of our constitution and laws, in the everyday life of the people, or even in the conversations and dealings we have in the worldwide community of nations. The same would stand true for the study notes which are interspersed within the text.
There are twelve full-color sections which deal with the entirety of American history from Colonial America to the present day. Two other interesting sections include first, a complete listing of all the Presidents from George Washington to Barack H. Obama; and second, a listing of all the states of the United States in the order in which they were admitted into the Union and also the date of that admittance.
The Patriot's Bible would be a most welcome addition to a lover of America and how the scriptures have made an impact on the ideals and values of our great nation.

A clear and factual look at American history.

The "American Patriot's Bible" gives a factual, clear and unbiased view of the role that Christianity and a belief in God had in American history. Someone who reads it with an open mind and looks at the factual history, as opposed to revisionist history, will see how our founding fathers, and those that followed them, had a belief in God and how that belief affected our country. The evidence is presented in a clear and logical way that is easy and interesting to read. If a person wants to know the infulance that Christianity had on our country, there is no better place to look than "American Patriot's Bible".

A Must read for those who don't know where USA was derived from

The corialation of the bible and Americas foundation is accurately portrayed. This book is a try to live by and Our America would purceafear and remain the greatest country in the world. Its easy reading without the thems and thous giving us a history lesson of why, who and what brought us to where we are and what will take us out of our roll as the stallward of democracy and what is right and just for indivdiuals freedoms. For the none believers in a higher power this reading might awaken a sense of nationalistic pride that seems to be lacking in our Governmental Branches. Try it- you'll be pleasently surprised at what you didn't know about who America is and why. Mikey likes it why not You???

    Great read

With so many people that hate our country in our country it's refreshing to see "accurate" history and the word of God side by side. We have so much rich history, it's a good read.

Good for people who love history and God's word!

I received a copy of the American Patriots bible from Thomas Nelson. The bible is hardcover and has a really nice cover on it. I got this free so its something I would not have bought if I had to spend the money on it. However, I know many people who would like this bible. People like my grandfather and a friend of the family who are history buffs and also love God's word. This bible has neat stories and pictures from history and many that talk about our founding fathers of our nation who built our nation using the bible. I recommend this book for anyone who loves God's word and who loves history and specifically the history of our nation, The United States of America! Many people I am sure will love this patriotic bible. It's just not my taste!

The American Patriot's Bible The Word of God and the Shaping of America (Hardcover)

I was extremely intrigued to get the opportunity to review and study with The American Patriot's Bible in NKJV (New King James Version). Not only is this study Bible extensive in American history it also uncovers the biblical truths that have formed our country as it is today. As it states on the hardcover jacket "The Word of God and the Shaping of America".

There is a lot of beautifully illustrated insert pages, forty-eight to be exact. If your looking for a memorable study Bible this should be your choice. It has a full-color presentation page and family record section, you can even list Military and Public Service, so I really liked to see that in a Bible especially if you were looking to gift this to a service member. The print is in large text, so very easy on the eyes. With a total of 1,632 pages that feature: illustrations, two-color Bible pages, 254 articles, and 66 book introductions , following an index and concordance. Definately the Bible of choice for the family room, your Father, a Veteran, a student learning about American History, or any dear Service Member.

I also loved reading the "extras" that are included in this Bible, I believe it makes reading such a great book much more interesting.

If you have a deep appreciation for the truth on how the Bible has formed its foundations in American history, regardless if your an American or not this Bible can be a great teaching tool.

    An Awesome work

I am so glad to see that some one has taken the time and effort to remind us of how our founding fathers came up with the ideals and principles that our great nation was established on, and has survived these some two hundred years. I only hope and pray that the current leadership in Washington will start remembering these principles also and then our country will once again become the great country it was meant to be. All they have to do is look around them right there in our nations capital to see all the references to how our GOD was the guiding force to the founding of this country.

    It's about time.

This Bible shows how our founding fathers relied & depended on the word of God. Our country was founded on Christian values & we should do everything we can to vote people into office that share that same opinion. The quicker our country gets back to God, the quicker all of the insanity currently going on in our country will cease. Great Bible for any history buff.

Stirring account of the historical elements of the Bible

This book has given a much needed look at the historical nature of the Bible combined with the history of our country. It's narrative is educational, easily read, and a great support of our Christian and American hertitage.
