Editorial Reviews

Cooks Magazine
"Anyone seriously cooking in the wholefoods vein can’t help but be delighted to have such a fund of basic information and ideas at hand."
How to Write a Cookbook
"I suspect it is the yardstick against with forthcoming natural foods and vegetarian cookbooks will be measured."
Vegetarian Times
"American Wholefoods Cuisine -a cookbook you can’t live without....A monumental work...." This book is a must for every vegetarian cook."
Library Journal
The Goldbecks' huge vegetarian cookbook was originally published in 1983, and it has sold more than 250,000 copies. Now it has been reissued with a new preface by culinary historian Barbara Haber and updated nutritional information. Often referred to as a "vegetarian Joy of Cooking," the book includes a wide-ranging selection of recipes; a chapter on preserving, growing sprouts, etc.; another on menu planning; and a final section, "The Food Reader," with information on stocking the pantry, equipment and techniques, kitchen math, and other such topics. Although some of the head notes seem slightly dated-pesto and falafel, for example, are no longer the unfamiliar exotics they once were-most collections will want this new edition. My original version of this book is falling apart, so I bought the revised version. Nikki & David's recipes have never disappointed me. Every time I make something from this cookbook and share it with friends, they've asked for the recipe. These recipe's are delicious and healthy too! Thank you Nikki & David!!
