This story is so beautifully crafted that, after having read it at least a hundred times by now, it still brings tears to my eyes. While the tale's great surprise tenderly unfolds, readers of all ages are reminded to "think in other directions."

A clever story so perfectly composed that my heart twists and eyes tear every time I read it. It's a double rainbow: the language and tone are so lovely they draw you into the story like a good stretch after a long sleep; and the exquisite suprise it reveals is sure to sprout new cognitive paths in young (and not-so) minds.

AMIGO is one of my all time favorites and I am delighted to be reunited with it!! I used to read it to my classes, and we never failed to cry! The kids loved it, and would periodically get out a box of kleenex and request that I reread AMIGO!! The tale of growing trust between the boy and the prairie dog, beautifully illustrated, is a powerful story! I read it to 11/12 year olds, and am now buying it for my 5 and 6 year old nephews....so 5-12 (+ adults!!) is the right age range.

I am in my 30's, and this book has some of the most beautiful language I have ever read in adult books and children's books. My 3 year old sons love the book, too. The story is beautiful, too.
