It should go without saying that you should read the first entry in this series, 'Nekropolis', before reading this book. this is a wonderful continuation of the story of Matt Richter, Zombie Detective. The classic whodunnit mystery is mixed with just enough fantasy, suspense, and witty humor to make it a fresh and fun read for anyone with an avid imagination. it still stands onnits own as a fantasy novel, but has the common sense not to take itself to seriously. Get both books and enjoy a refreshing break from campy vampire romances.

Don't get me wrong, I generally like Matt Forbeck's work, but this was too formulaic a thriller for me to really enjoy. It was too obvious where the story was going and who was the villain. I like a bit more suspense than that.

I opened Amortals not sure if I'd like, but after reading Vegas Knights I had faith in Forbeck to reward my foray outside my comfort zone. I wasn't dissapointed! A great twist on the fish out of water, and you can't help but empathize with the hero. Forbeck excels at going places you never expect and ensures you enjoy the ride!
