The use of informal words and expressions that are not considered standard in the speaker's dialect or language is generally termed as slang. Slang is often to be found in areas of the lexicon that refer to things considered taboo. It is often used to identify with one's peers and, although it may be common among young people, it is used by people of all ages and social groups.

Everything I could want to sound more british online! I just wish they would say the degree of offensive each word has... if that makes any sense... so yeah, bobs your uncle! XD
I occassionally read British books or watch British movies. The meaning of some British slang isn't alwasy obvious. This book is great for looking up the slang and the definition.
